Luckily the clouds were pretty light up in Chester so we got a decent view. This was the pic I got.

Great view from Cardiff - shame I didn't have any spex! My phone's camera managed to show a blazing sun next to an eclipsed sun. Have no idea how that happened!

In the good old days, we used to get proper solar eclipses, not like these namby pamby modern ones. Kids today, don't know they are born.

Funny enough TC although I am sure there must have been eclipses since, I had a bit of a flashback to when I was about 8 in primary school (nigh on 40 years ago now) - none of this 'look at a piece of card' or special celebratory goggles - they marched the entire school into the playground and made us look up under pain of death to witness the wonder of the cosmos...

Why are you talking to the wall?

You may laugh SF but when I had an eye test they said I had 'black spots' on my retina and asked if I have either received severe blows to the head (yes) or had any prolonged exposure to bright lights - b******s....

Apologies Sash. Didn't mean to trivialise your peeper jip

Been a good week for astronomy & the sun, hopefully we get clear skies.
The earth only has total eclipses for another 16000 years then they are gone forever.

You are right but your math is wrong, more like 563 million years from now.

It will cause fundamental changes to the world and the biosphere as we know it.

Luckily humans should be extinct by then

I heard 500+ million years too, I guess the moon moving by 4cms a year is pretty slow.

The moon's gravitational pull does have a significant effect on how Earth functions so again I concur with Pefwin that change will be fundamental and probably the end of us if we haven't been wiped out already.

Don't worry mate - I put it down to the blows to the head to be honest... I don't think I will be suing Bromley Council anytime soon
