Ian Wright (fantastic - so upset twhen he left)
Peter Taylor - (took people on and scored goals!)
Don Rogers - So exciting when he got the ball
Vince Hilaire (he had hair and flair!)
Rachid Harkouk (what a goal at the Goldstone!)

Exciting players - where are they now????

I agree with 3 out of 5 again mate

what is your 5?

Wright, Taylor, sansom, Hilaire and swindles

What no Billy Gilbert??? - 35 yarder v West Ham????

A new era of total football is on the way to Selhurst Park!!

I know, much as I love sir billy of gilbert, I just didn't think he qualified in the 'exciting' category..........great goal though

Julian Speroni and Nigel Martyn, help me out, I'm struggling with the other one???
And keepers don't really qualify as 'exciting' do they?

OK - a different thread - who do we think were the 5 most exciting? The ones who really set Selhurst alight with anticipation?

My pick

With honourable mentions perhaps for Attilio, Matt Jansen, Wrighty, Alan Whittle and Yogi Bear Hughes

John Hughes only scored four goals for us so you are probably basing your "honourable mention" on that wonderful goal that he scored against Sheffield United.

I was there at the time and remember the goal quite clearly but haven't a clue who scored the other goals

I was there too and couldn't remember the other goalscorers either, but the record books tell me they were Tony Taylor, John Hughes (2), Gerry Queen and John McCormick.

I'd have trouble picking just five players, but I would have to include Johnny Byrne definitely. For an honourable mention I would add Cliff Holton.

I was there at Watford on a cold winters day when Cliffy scored a thunderbolt from the half way line,Big Cliffy unstoppable on his day with his size and power.

Where is the Joker shown, I haven't used it ?

Totally agree
Budgee Byrne would have been ideal for the current Palace side,
if only!

I liked mark Lazarus, Dennis uphill, Johnny Gavin, Ron heckman, Dickie dowsett, George petchey, terry long, Ronnie Allen and cliff holton.

Holton's thunderbolt free kicks were amazing. In those days of leather footballs, there was no possibility of swerve. He just crashed it through the wall and any keeper with sense pulled his hands out of the way pdq.

Depends on the definition of 'exciting' which I suggest means those players who you look forward to seeing play each week - anticipation....

Based on who I've seen play for Palace

1) Ian Wright
2) Dean Gordon
3) Attilio Lombardo
4) Matt Jansen
5) Andy Gray
