for what it's worth i suppose i am a veteran Palace fan and here is my top 5 as from 1968. i find it hard to choose from more recent times as players don't seem to stick around as long as they used to.

Jim's a legend for sure, but I have limited space in my top 5 so it has to be Sir Billy for me And how can you put Kember in ahead of your brother?

I think that we need to find a 130 year old Palace fan, who has had a season ticket since they were 21.
A 130 year old , who had a season ticket since they were 21. Do the maths, I know it's a Sunday night though mate, so fair enough.

Yes they don't stick around so long. Pe3ter Taylor..2 years. Andy Johnson 3 years, Kenny Sansom 2 years, Dereck Jeffries 2 years. Didn't stick around long, any of them.

I would say that list is a complete joke. No Peter Taylor,Don Rodgers, Kenny or John Jackson ? He was pictured more than once on TV last night at the Swindon v Sheff Utd game. It was nice to see him.

I have been a Palace supporter since before the end of ww2 Like many others I liked Don Rogers but in truth he was inconsistent and carried injuries.Steve Kember was a good player but is best described as a grafter. Jacko is often mentioned because of his heroic displays but as a goalkeeper he was surpassed by Bill Glazier,Nigel Martyn and probably Roy Bailey I was a big fan of Jimmy Canon,Charlie Chase from many years back was another talented centre back...but in my opinion Eric Young was the best that we have had. Best defender was Kenny Sansom. Johnny Byrne was absolute class, ( many years back a manager was heard to say put him over the touchline before he starts taking the piss)Byrne was very influential in developing the forward skills of Geoff Hurst who was initially a wing half (midfield player) Wright has been the best out and out striker and the influence of Mark Bright on his game should never be ignored. Perhaps not the most gifted play but the way that Geoff Thomas drove the team forward was wonderful to watch. My Five are:

Sansom played 197 1st team games and won the FA Youth Cup - I think he qualifies - plus by country mile he's the best footballer ever produced by us!
