I never saw peter simpson play but he deserves to be in a bestXI as he is our all time top scorer and he scored about 19 hat tricks

I was just being born when Peter Simpson was in his scoring hay day but me Dad use to talk about Peter every day without fail.He must have been fantastic and I think he scored 150 goals for The Palace in three seasons.Pity there are few if any pictures of him doing his shift for us but I can certainly live on the memories of me Dad's stories.

Would anyone put Clinton Morrison in their team?

Funny how dougie freedman's name gets less of a mention these days in the best ever team threads :-)

Here's mine, it's changed a bit recently with Jules ousting nige in goal and I can never make my mind up between andy gray and Peter Nicholas in midfield

Speroni

Hinshelwood
Gilbert
Thorn
Sansom

Hilaire
Gray or Nicholas
Thomas
P. Taylor

Wight
Bright

When picking the best team from those who have carried the 'Jelly Mould' you must also take into account those who made it to international level, as that really is a sign of quality, not even opinion.

Here goes:
Martyn, Fenwick, Sansom, Southgate, Cannon, Jeff Thomas, Salako, Wright, Zaha and Peter Taylor.
Chris Coleman played more international matches than Cannon, but surely it's a no-brainer.
Rihalati (?) and Lombardo are also big internationals to be considered as were Paddy Mullighan and Tamblin and Cook (Charlie). Not to forget Andy Gray. But they weren't really Palace were they. For Goal scoring one must add Clinton Morrison, no duffer in front of goal and Jerry Spud Murphy for his weight of pass. Then, of course Johny, Budgie, Byrne. And there is no mention of Johny Stonewall Jackson, Doris or the greatest, Donny Rogers. But my best were considered the best by their peers, which says it all.
