Oliver Holt wrote this morning that we have overtaken Stoke as the loudest fans in the Prem.

It happened to Stoke - previous title holders for noisiest crowd.

However, we have a secret weapon, the HF and AWM. The noise will continue as long as they are around.

...exactly, it will only get better.

Have no fear its already spreading as im in the middle area in between the HF n AWM in block Y and we are getting louder and bridging the gap between the two groups......

I would no we won't as I think it's been worse this season than last already. Suppose only time will tell though.

Really? Where were you on Monday during the last quarter of an hour? What about the Chelsea game? The only reason these games weren't as good as some of the great games in the past is that we are no longer allowed to cram in 51,801 people, mainly standing. I was impressed with the Whitehorse by the way, definitely getting louder.
The first half of the season it was hard going as the play on the pitch didn't help the cause but it's certainly getting going again.

Let's hope the new fans self-select as people that want to add to the atmosphere rather than just observe.

Yes we are trying. Would love to get the Whithorse doing a display but I think we are not there yet.....

We certainly are, particularly now we are closer to the away supporters...there is plenty of banter, and plenty ready to stand up and sing (if not as organised as the Holmesdale)...there was plenty of 'attack, attack, attack' back to the Liverpool supporters at 2-3!

As for a display..I was thinking we should do our own think ...like everyone bringing a palace scarf and twirling it around the head at key moments...would look great, also perhaps we can get a few flags up at the back representing the nationalities of the players in the side

It's certainly spreading round the ground. From my vantage point in the Arthur, I swear I could detect movement in the Main Stand when Gayle equalised.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I am not sure what our average attendance is but must be well over 20,000? So we only need to add another couple of thousand passionate supporters and wer'e there!

24,114 this season

I noticed a lot of commotion close to the away supporters on Monday.

Kudos to you guys.

I was in my seat on Monday and at Chelsea just where I have been for the last 16 years and yes the atmospheres were great. I just think in general the atmosphere this year hasnt been as good. I think its been a shame that when its been hard going the atmosphere hasnt been as good as only 3/4 years ago we were in admin, playing dreadful football but atmosphere was always good.

Like I say, we have had games this season where the atmosphere has been very good, liverpool especially was extremely loud but just consistently I dont think it's been as good that's all.

...and it's up to all the fans in the ground who want to keep that noise to actually do it and not just sit there and wonder where it's gone!

The above 2 posts correct, the atmosphere has dipped to previous seasons overall, anyone compairing the atmosphere when we are winning matches to previous years to me aren't getting whats special about Selhurst matches

Last season think back to how we came from behind against cardiff and burnley, remember the sheff weds game, that was the turning point for me at selhurst, awesome support.

Against Liverpool I felt it for the first time this season on that level, our fans were on it as soon as the first goal went in for us and looked what happened.

Its the soul of the club, it would be a sad day if we dropped off but im confident the AW and HF will keep the noise going

we're the Arthur, we're the Arthur, we're the Arthur over here!

Positive! Proud & Palace - W block, AW

I can't imagine it will be an issue for sometime to come. We have a nice balance of youthful fans and old timers. The HF will probably grow older and less vocal, but be replaced by new young fans.

We'll never be a team that expects to win, or a 'fashionable' club ala Fulham etc.

It will be my 30th year coming to Selhurst next year and the atmosphere has had it's ups and downs along the way, some games have been exceptional this season as mentioned the Chelsea game and in particular the end of Liverpool. I have a season ticket with my 10 year old boy in block X of the Arthur near enough where I stood when I first came to Selhurst. I sing my heart out much to the annoyance of the tourists who sit near me for the odd game, I don't understand their attitude it's not that I am swearing all the time or being abusive, that is the only negative from this season. Have to say the HF have been superb getting things going and my boy Nathan thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread lol. Hope the atmosphere can keep growing next season. Just love where our club is on and off the field at the moment ...

I've sat in the Arthur three times this season, and the most recent game I went to - against Villa - was the loudest. Hopefully that's a sign that the atmosphere will continually improve.

So long as the newer/more casual fans don't dilute the Holmesdale/Arthur, which are the main sources of atmosphere, we'll be fine.

My 'gripe' will be if we do start attracting 'new' or have returning 'old' fans that it limits the opportunty for tickets even more - commitmenst mean I will only get to around 10 games a season at home - 12 if I am lucky so season ticket not an option

Its hard enough now and a bit of a scramble

Loving Block Y of the Arfur this season though
