Well, if it really kicks off in Ukraine, we could be called up... Huh?
We should embrace occupation by Russia with open arms ...cheaper gas and loads of oligarchs ready to pump cash into our national game. How many Russian speakers are there in Croydon? Can we cede the territory back to the Mother State!!!!

Be content with survival. We need to build a team AND a stadium before we even THINK about Europe. I personally hope we don't "accidentally" get there next season.
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

So Palace carry on next season where they left off this season and climb the league. Then the invitation comes to enter a Euro competition. What? We turn it down? I don't think so! Yep the Inter-Toto Cup was a real blast...

say we don't get second season syndrome and become an established premier league side. what does everyone think our chances are of getting european football. for me watching palace in europe is the ultimate dream and i can die happy. looking at recent teams hull, stoke, birmingham, wigan, fulham etc the odds cant be that bad. probably getting a bit carried away but its about time we all had something to be optimistic about. When did Hull ever play in Europe, their only chance this season is if they lose to Arsenal, and the Arsenal qualify automatically, then they will qualify.

And it's not just if they lose and Arsenal qualify for champions league (which I think will be the most likely case). If Hull win the FA cup they are too in Europe

I would love us to qualify but it has a massive impact on teams with small squads. Wigan kicked on their season once out of it and Swansea havent really recovered. One day yes, but we shouldn't want to do anythingthat could jopardise our position in the PL. As s*** as that sounds, we need to make the most of the golden goose before it all goes tits up.

bor-ing A trip to Ajax or Hamburg or Copenhagen. You wouldn't say 'no' surely?
The Europa League has killed pretty much every team that played in it.
We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

I don't disagree with all the negatives, but all they tell me is you need a strategy to copy with the Europa League, not that you shouldn't enter it at all. Maybe the answer is a bigger squad, maybe it's player rotation, maybe it's relying on the kids more and taking your chances, particularly in the early rounds but with squads of 25 players and another 10 capable of playing (either not in the Premier League squad or top youngsters) we ought to be able to find 11 bodies that can play on a Thursday but are not required the following weekend. Personally, I'd be delighted if we got into Europe. A step up is a step up and other teams' experience should give pointers as to how it's best managed.

TP wasn't exactly over the moon about playing in Europe when he was at Stoke: [Link] "We play Kiev on Thursday, Sunderland on Sunday, Tottenham on Tuesday [in the Carling Cup] and Manchester United on Saturday – it’s not a bad run of games but it is a big call for the next couple of weeks." And I seem to remember him playing a very weakened side against Valencia (I think), a game to which thousands of Stokies had travelled. They were angry at Pulis that he'd effectively thrown the game to concentrate on the Premier League.
