We'd rightly be a laughing stock if we had a parade for not getting relegated. Big fat no from me thanks!

Spot on.

Any parade should take place at Selhurst or Crystal Palace frankly not Croydon or would all us fans from the other boroughs in London have to have our own private celebration. We are a South London Club not solely from a borough largely in the countryside.
I hate us associating ourselves with Croydon in any way and every time we do we alienate all the fans from the inner London boroughs who frankly have no bond with anything Croydon whatsoever.
Crystal Palace and the building we get our name from is adjacent to 5 London boroughs and with other London teams at a bit of a low ebb we have a great chance to grab a new generation of Palace fans and make big inroads into the inner London Boroughs. The kids from these area's are beginning to take notice so its a big opportunity.
Why jeopardise this by associating ourselves with Croydon in any way. The borough has done absolutely nothing to help the club in any way, objecting to almost every moderate planning application. Islington let Arsenal build the emirates, Croydon wanted us to replace the mainstand with a garden shed.
if we ever have a parade in Croydon i would boycott it frankly and the less we have to do with the place the better. On a survey on the BBS only 14% of Palace fans lived in the borough of Croydon, i know the stadium is there but the Crystal Palace itself is so far north of the borough its not even in it.

Croydon largely in the country side? You really have no idea about that borough do you?

Whilst I agree we should market ourselves as THE club for south London rather than a Croydon club, you cannot ignore the fact that the club has played within Croydon borough for almost 100 years. There is an unbearable link between Croydon and CPFC whether you like it or not.

As for your comment regarding the bbs poll, the bbs is not representive of the whole fan base and if I recall correctly an even larger percentage of fans lived abroad! I don't think our stadium is filled with ex pats most weekends, do you?

I'm not a Croydon apologist, I don't even live in the borough, and I agree they have done very little in our times of need though the council rear their ugly faces when we are doing well (though respect due, during our last administration, the chairman said that the council were a huge help).

I just have issues with this as someone who grew up in the borough of Lewisham. Its about where Crystal Palace is not where the stadium is. The stadium could be in anyone of the 5 boroughs and it is frankly a very short distance from Crystal Palace. If we moved to the NSC would we suddenly become Bromley's club?
Croydon claiming Crystal Palace for itself alienates me. Am i supposed to support Millwall even though i grew up less than a mile from the great building itself ? All this whilst a borough the building wasn't even in , claims the club as its own and frankly the New Den is nearer Crystal Palace than swathes of the borough of Croydon.
Crystal Palace FC should be a South London Club not a club from a very small borough and the more it portrays its self as such the more the kids growing up in Lewisham, Southwark and Lambeth will be walking round in Chelsea shirts.
I would have loved us to move to the NSC for this reason alone and although i do love old Selhurst, we're not a club from the back streets of Norwood, we are Crystal Palace FC and should be very proud to come from a little area called Crystal Palace right in the heart of South London.
That you can sell to the kids of the inner London boroughs, a Croydon club you can't.

Croydon is actually the most populous borough in the whole of London so to call it a small borough is a huge inaccuracy.

I do understand your frustration but unfortunately it's never going to change so you'll just have to put up with it. If we moved to the park Bromley council would be exactly the same and you'll still be complaining. The only time you will be happy is if the club moved to Lewisham, which along with southwark are the two minor boroughs in crystal palace, much further up the road than the 3 boroughs that most recognise as crystal palace.

I don't really see how a snooty councillor trying to 'claim' CPFC would make any difference to a young boy from an estate in Lambeth? The fact is it won't. Just ignore the councillor, he is the only one making absurd claims and we as fans know that CPFC is for south London and not just Croydon. Any young people living in estates in inner London won't take a blind bit of notice any councillor says.

Which is probably why we have produced some decent players over the years, can't think of any from Bromley
tho' (scratches head)

I think it is fine to celebrate in such a civic manner when a team WINS things or is promoted to the Premier League etc etc but not when a team manages to avoid relegation, albeit it was some achievement.

Tony Pearson is an odious individual trying to associate himself and his sad political career to the clubs success. Steer well clear.

No way, we've got the Liverpool game to thank the players for their efforts. They will be in no doubt how we feel about them that day.
