Taking GD into account, TWO of the following would have to happen - Norwich would have to win 2 or have 1 win and 3 draws from their nightmare 4 games Fulham would have to win 3 or get 2 wins and 2 draws from their 4 games Cardiff would have to win 3 from their last 4 (which includes Chelsea on the final day) Sunderland would have to win 4 from their last 6 (which included Man City and Chelsea away)

Staying up is much about momentum as Hoddle said a couple of weeks ago on Sky and that we fitted that bill. Look at our form, must be up there with Liverpool. Of course we will get more points, probably 44/45. EVERY home game left is winnable and Liverpool and Man City are not relishing coming to SP; we will have a major say in where the title goes as Chelsea found out. Our away games can also produce points.....point at Everton, WHU and Fulham ....we are in that sort of form and we are as tight as a ducks derrière at the back which those around and below us are not. To be relegated, there needs to be a massive drop in form by us and a huge transformation below, neither will happen!

I think there is every reason to be positive on the basis of our own form. In the last four games we haven't conceded a goal and I think we are well capable of getting something at least against West Ham and Fulham, maybe even Everton. None of the other teams around us have conceded as few goals as us recently. Even if the worst happened and we lost all five games it would take a big swing around for all bar two of the teams below us to overtake us. Norwich in particular have a nightmare four games remaining and would have to win two of those. Fulham would still have to pull off an away win at Spurs and Cardiff still have to play Chelsea. I'm not forgetting the harsh lessons of the past but I think we have a brilliant chance of staying up.

Posted this in another thread To become maths safe, if we assume we get no more points then If Cardiff drop 3 points from their remaining games we are safe from them overtaking us, Norwich, Villa, WBA, Hull and Swansea are a lot more vulnerable than we are There is a bit of a myth with this 'botton v bottom' action The only games from now until the end of season that are real relegation six pointers are WHU v PALACE The rest see us all play top six (title or eurpoa chasers or mid table teams (Newcastle, Saints, Stoke) Interesting thing as they are dropping like s atone is that Villa had better start winning or they could be in the shyte big time Edited by The Sash (14 Apr 2014 12.37pm)
the way I work it, assuming that we get no more points: looks unlikely they can do it as they all need about 2 points per game to achieve this, and seeing that they all are currently running at <1 point per game, it'll take one hell of an effort for any of them to acheive this.
Remember we'd be losing games, and they'd be winning them. And theres always a risk that Liverpool or Man City could put six or seven past us. If that happened and Cardiff scored three, thats a 9 point shift in goal difference. Never happen

Can we take a breather and be realistic about the nightmare scenario here? All of the mathematics everyone's spouting assume that our Palace, currently on their best form of the year, would need to slide and earn zero points the rest of the season. With the schedule we have left, yeah anything is possible...but come on...worth worrying about? Not unless we get spanked in our next 2 matches!

If Palace win all remaining games 52pts. I'll still settle for 44pts.

And one other thing....we have a WORLD CLASS goalkeeper and a defence protected by an incredibly hardworking midfield and forward line. As Paul Ince Saon on MOTD last Saturday it's the collective unit which is Palace's strength not individuals. Let's stop looking for the Mogadin and instead get high on the Intoxicating sight of a Palace side in full flow!!

...please don't forget the most important thing ...... We are Crystal Palace..nothing is ever straight forward! That is why we all love and support them..we just don't do normal..we are different! If you wanted predictable then you would certainly not be an eagle!
