Its obscene really isn't it...and given those amounts and Ambramoviches wallet it makes my mind boggle how Chelsea made a 50m loss last year

Torres for £50mil one season. Ballack costing whatever it was at the same time. Other positions not updated. Several positions filled seasons after. £200k a week wages making £10mil per season for the player. Having 25 internationals who could play on any Saturday in 15 or more of the Prem matchday XI.

Oh I know why, it was more rhetorical - The figures just show how crazy football is at that rarefied level and how f***ed those teams are if daddy jacks it in

Doing one stand at a time when money is available makes the most sense. Perhaps over three seasons ie Main Stand 2015/16. Arthur 2016/17 then the White Horse after that to fit in with the supermarket/hotel conference centre plans.

as it looks like we are staying in the prem we have to get undersoil heating installed for next season that's not cheap

It is really in the big scheme of things, £1m.

oh didn't realise you knew it was only £1m

the live TV money depends on how often you are actually picked up so our $$ would be slightly less than that but still this shows how we keep to keep pushing even once we are "safe"

As has already been pointed out the wages of the top players disfigures the average wage.

Most players aren't on £30 grand.

Parish and co have been quite clear from the start.....Despite the regular calls from some posters on Hol we aren't going to bankrupt ourselves chasing glory.

They came in to stabalise the club and whatever the situation next season you won't see us taking risks financially just to stay in the division.

The fans on Palace talk who call for a 'twenty goal a season' striker or boardroom ambition won't ever really learn.....We got here without a massive club wage bill and we will look to remain with a 'competitive' one for a mid table side.

I see us going for Rhodes in the close season....But outside of that I doubt there will be much in the way of 'big name' signings.

Edited by Stirlingsays (13 Apr 2014 10.32am)

This last bit contradicts your very sensible post. Rhodes is on £35k a week at Blackburn and about to sign an improved £45k a week four year deal to stay at Blackburn. Our owners are unlikely to pay the former let alone the latter.

I dont quite get this undersoil heating thing.

If there is ice and snow in the surrounding areas on the pavements, they say it's a health and safety issue and call the game off.

So why do we need to have it...spose I'm just a thick idiot but i'd like an answer

No you are absolutely right. The majority of games that are called off are because of unsafe pavements/roads.
The Premiership however are more concerned with honouring their commitments to the tv companies. If police/local authority call a game off because of icy pavements that's not their problem. If on the other hand a member club cannot get a game on because their facilities are s***/out of date then they are inconveniencing the hand that feeds them.

Scott Dann was on a similar contract and accepted a drop to come to us...so your point doesn't stack up

agreed.

However, my ONLY and i really mean only complaint from Mr. Parish or the CPFC2010 group is that they aren't being aggressive enough in seeking additional revenue streams.

Why aren't we pursuing a signing from Asia or even the states which could mean significant additional revenue in shirt sales? why dont we have an international tour in the summer like other PL clubs (hell, even Norwich went to the states last year).

I agree we need to stay within our means, however, we can't afford to leave any money on the table in the competitive PL, especially until Financial fair play kicks in.

Holy s*** aha, you can really start to tell the importance of having 2 or 3 seasons in the prem and the effect it can have on facilities and infrastructure

Little by little these improvements increase our status......But it does kind of mean that we are staying at Selhurst.

Which if we are ever to significantly progress we would need to move and build a new stadium......And ideally it would be at our ancestral home.

I'm all for staying at Selhurst and improving to be honest. I think most prem teams and fans hate coming to us. And when the fans are in full force, and with the displays and everything, its got to be an intimidating place to play as an opposition, surely!

I'd be worried that all that would get a bit lost in a sparkly new 30,000 stadium driven for maximising hospitality revenue, if we moved straight in. I think developing stand by stand has to be the way, leaving the away section until last! hehehe!
