More words of caution. Palace are now ninth in the form guide (last six matches). Guess who are the top three? Liverpool, Man City and Everton. West Ham are above us in the form guide too. Only two below us are Villa and Fulham. Next week is clearly our best chance of another win.

Agreed...the spectre of Oldham Still looms....!!!

Different scenario now. A number of teams will have to do something to bring us into the bottom 3 at the end of the season. Whilst we shouldn't be popping the champagne corks yet we are closer to safety than 1993. TP will get us over the line and his post match conference and Joe Ledley's clearly shows the management/players mentality, taking every game as it comes.

It is more likely that the poster on here who crazily predicted we'd end up with 50pts back in August will be proven correct than us getting relegated.

We are safe. Even if we lose the next 6 games which we won't.

Sit back. Relax.

Sorry to be negative but we must get behind the team more than ever now. Selhurst next week needs to be a fortress of sound. I remember vividly the lap of honour the palace side in 1993 did after beating Ipswich at home. That day we thought we were safe. The only team who could drag us down were Oldham and they had Villa (still in the title race at that time) Liverpool and Southampton to play and had to win them all. And guess what?! They bloody did!

Until that fat lady sings we cannot allow complacency to kick us in the nuts!

Totally get the sentiment but it's not true.

We are pretty much there now.

Hard to feel positive about palace granted given our history but this is a very different club now with a top manager and a team who has been consistently picking up points for some time.

We will beat Villa, and that will be that.

That was my first ever Palace game. I then remember thinking (after relegation) just how did that happen? So the 'it can only happen to us' hoodoo is well encrypted into my DNA, I expect capitulation, I expect goals like JTs the other week to be ruled out (to the point there's a delay in celebrations).

However, this is a Tony Pulis side, they seem calm, collected and a great group. On paper we've a few areas of weakness, but looking how we are performing you wouldn't know it. Look at yesterday's bench too, it gave very strong attack minded options.

I agree that IF we got turned over badly by Villa and other results went against us then the pressure the following week for points at WestHam and Everton would be enormous, maybe to the point that our performances slip. But honestly, under Pulis do you see this being the case? It's highly unlikely.

Im feeling uncomfortably comfortable.

Strong performance against the Villa next Saturday and we will be home and hosed.

A few weeks ago Norwich were looking safe, now look at them. Twists and turns all the way and we always like a bit of drama.

The time we went down and Oldham stayed up, they had to win their 3 remaining games, one was against Liverpool.

Remember it clear as a bell seeing David James throw the ball in to his own net, the bloody numpty...

I'm finding it really hard to not start to believing we're safe. This is Palace we're talking about, nothing is ever simple and nothing ever goes the way we expect it to!

If we beat Villa though, that's it as far as I'm concerned. I've not seen anywhere near enough from those beneath us that show me they're capable of picking up enough points to overtake us in such a short period of time.

The worst scenario I can think of (and the one you can guarantee will happen cos we is Palace after all) is that Fulham have started to find some form, so imagine it comes down to the final game, whoever wins is safe, and because we are Palace and we always have to get shafted, Darren fecking Bent, who has done nothing all season will score the winner.

Buuuuuuut, we'll be safe by the Fulham game anyway. Won't we?

As well as being haunted by the memory of Oldham I also note that Blackpool went down with 39 points. I don't think we will need that many but too early to start the party yet.

Safe as houses. Too many other teams need to do too much. Norwich are in big, big trouble and if anyone is going to fall in to the relegation zone, it's them.

Looking at the final run-in, Cardiff have the easiest but given their performance yesterday, you have to say they are gone already.

Not too concerned by Fulham, they've picked up two wins in five, but they've been against a Newcastle side that went on holiday as soon as Cabaye was sold, and a poor Villa side with Grant Holt leading their front line.

Newcastle only play well against us, the rest of the time they are breaking out the Piz Buin
