No one has mentioned this match for importance and a good match to watch.

2001 - Portsmouth 2 Palace 4. A defeat would have meant relegation.

Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in?

I loved that game, went expecting nothing but hoped for something but it was never really in doubt. Set up Stockport away nicely too. Stockport was awful until the end though, got on tv though.

QPR in the cup was one of the most memorable matches I have been to.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Wasn't there but in 1977 away to Wrexham in that final game of the season we had to win by two clear goals to have a chance of promotion over Wrexham (via goal difference) who were to finish their season with a game three days later which they would then have to win.

90th minute 2-2

93rd minute 2-4 to Palace.

I would have self-combusted if I had been in attendance.

Wrexham didn't win. We were up!

Brighton and Hove Albion 0 - 2 Crystal Palace

I honestly don't think a game of this magnitude against our biggest rivals with a youth team player scoring both the goals will ever be bettered

I also think this is the best ever game and atmosphere ive been to. I cant remember being more nervous before a match than this one. and we thought we were going to lose!!! better than the P/O Final vs Watford for me!

Some very interesting replies. HoL has had a thread like this before, so I was curious to see how many people would include Saturday's match, as I did. No more than half, it seems!
I agree about the terror at Hillsborough, which I felt too. But I can't remember feeling as anxious and excited throughout a match as on Saturday, even though I was at most of the matches which others have listed - Portsmouth 2 Palace 4 was one of the biggies. But maybe it's because I am getting old and can't handle the strain so well!

For me.

Liverpool FACSF 1990 - I went to 9-0 at Anfield that year. Lost my voice for 4 days. Coming home on supporters train was almost silent (in happy disbelief).
Brighton away 2013 PO SF 2nd Leg - mental night. Front row right beside the goal. No one gave us a chance.
Sheff Utd 1997 POF - ecstasy after previous season POF defeat. My lad and I still talk about it now. We remember the year before against Leicester vividly.
Burnley 1979 Div 2 Promotion Home - got in ground 6.45 pm then locked in just after I went through the Main Stand turnstiles. What a night.
Brighton away Sep 2011 - just great seeing Muzza score the third. I have the FFS T Shirt as a happy reminder.

1 June 2010 - saved from oblivion by CPFC 2010
27 May 2013 - promoted to Premier League
2013-14 - 11th in PL
2014-15 - 10th in PL
2015-16 - 15th in PL
2016-17 - 14th in PL (and grateful for that!)

I was there, I think I've mentioned it on the nostalgia page and said there it was one of my top 5 games, absolutely fantastic, I think that the play off last season when Zaha slotted in the 2nd vs the weed is up there as is the 79 Burnley game for me.

12 great seasons watching Palace before leaving Fort Neef to come over here in 1980.

Top 5 matches;

Palace 3 - Fulham 2 - April 69
Palace 2 - Man Utd 2 – August 1969
Palace 5 – Man Utd 0 - Dec 1972
Chelsea 2 - Palace 3 – Feb 1976
Palace 2 – Burnley 0 - May 1979

Unfortunately the games I've been to on visits back since have all been dour or bleak affairs - as in the Swansea last September. Wish I'd booked my holiday for last week. COYP

We are the goon squad and we're going to town. Beep Beep!

v Brighton away semi final. Magic.

v Sheff Weds at Hillsborough to stay up, when our future was in doubt.

v Watfort PO Final Wembley

great 1-1 under the lights against Arsenal 'invincibles'

v Chelsea this saturday

v Sunderland PO semi at home 2004

Special mention to games such as beating Burnley 5-0 at the end of the season to get into the Playoffs under Warnock and Man U in the carling cup those games were really carefree and a lot of fun, unlike PO games v Watford and BHA, and the match at Hillsbrough which weren't actually that enjoyable!

Saturday's game against Chelsea was brilliant - our best performance of the season by far, and an unbelievable atmosphere inside Selhurst. The noise at the end was deafening - and I was in the sedate Main Stand!

So, certainly the best of the season, but I need a bit of time before deciding where I would place it in any historical best-of list.

I am only including games I attended, but the matches that stand out for me are:
2-0 Burnley 78-79
5-0 Man Utd 72-73
2-0 Brighton play-off 12-13
1-0 Leeds Cup 75-76
3-2 Fulham 68-69 (promotion decider)

As you can see I have been around for a while.
