Looking at some of the tricks in the clip shows he still has potential and 34 games at a reasonably decent level at 22 also shows he can get better as he matures more in a settled place. Now compare him to Routledge who also went to spurs and made his debut at left back (honest) fell away too and eventually came good (at 29) and is doing ok now. I would possibly/probably have him back at the right price but we have so many of his type of player at the club now that I doubt TP would even look at him. A bit sad that Tom Ince had the right tutelage and even stranger (for those with memories) looking at his dad offering out a whole stand (unpunished as well).
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Couldn't think at all where he would have been useful this season with our free kick record from 0-15 yrds outside the box or the creative through balls etc

Well, you have to feel sorry for a young boy having trust in his mentor/step father. Did this bloke really think John would be better off getting the occasional game in the Spur's reserves when all wisdom tells us the opposite is more appropriate. He took his choice and cocked-up. Is there really a case for having him back? Not at the moment. What if he's (unlikely) coming good? Then he could be considered like any other prospective signing. His connections and said 'love' of Palace may be useful then. Incidently, funny how he has suddenly fallen in love with Palace. Chancing his arm again? Learnt nothing?

My anger at the time wasn't only at his perceived betrayal as a fan but also that it felt like we had been royally stiffed for the money we received. Looking at the trajectory his career has taken since though, the fee doesn't seem so bad anymore. As for having him back, based purely on playing ability, I wouldn't have him within a hundred miles of the club in the Championship, let alone the Premier League.
Good job nobody here is holding a grude. There is one thing he said that kind of makes me want to hold a grude though. He said it was all far too easy for him at Palace, indicating the level at which we were playing was beneath him. Didn't like that but then how many 16 year old boys do people like? Don't answer that Cucking...

Those saying that £700k was actually a good amount of money having seen how he's done, I disagree. Who's to say that he wouldn't have gone on to play 100 games for us and leave for £10m like Wilf? The kid was the best player in the country for his age, and we missed out on enjoying his talent. Edited by jcreedy (25 Mar 2014 4.13pm)
He reminds me of Freddy Adu who was another one who was supposed to go on to great things before ultimately doing very little.

Why would people take him back in a heartbeat? Attitude problem and treacherous money grabbing antics aside, he is just simply not good enough for a premier league team.
I'm tough. I'm ambitious. I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, I'm OK with that. |

As I've said numerous times, his attitude since leaving is the reason I won't forgive him, rather than him actually leaving in the first place. The guy is a prat. Those saying that £700k was actually a good amount of money having seen how he's done, I disagree. Who's to say that he wouldn't have gone on to play 100 games for us and leave for £10m like Wilf? The kid was the best player in the country for his age, and we missed out on enjoying his talent. Mark Bright says that his decision to go to Spurs was brave, and that everyone at Palace wish him well. That's bollocks on both counts. Edited by jcreedy (25 Mar 2014 4.13pm) flucking hell, I hope Mark Bright isn't telling that to the current kids he's coaching at Palace

If he comes as good as he had the potential to, then I would like us to get him back just as he is coming good before a bigger team snatches him up. That way we start to get back our investment in him from earlier times. But as in earlier posts, only if he is really coming good AND if we need his type of player.

Personally I would let this phantom 'bigger' team get him, I really don't understand the fascination some on here have for former players. Bostock has played in the Belgian second division for almost a season, when he plays in a league that is somewhere near the standard we're at, then if he is of the calibre and position needed, then possibly look at him. Maybe if Chortletown go down he might be a good fit for them, for us, no.

Too many better players out there to even consider bringing back Bostock, never mind the fact he walked out on the club.
