Surely keeping the side in the premiership is a massive step in building a club?

Yes, however his focus at the moment is on pure survival with perhaps longer term goals not at the forefront of the mind.

Agreed, but I don't consider that a bad thing. It's pointless trying to build for the long term, if we can't succeed in our short-term ambition.

Don't see why you can't appreciate Freedman and Pulis in their own ways.

Pulis has done a brilliant job to give us a chance this season. That was what he was employed to do, and he may well do it.

Freedman though, from the mess he took over, created one hell of a team. Honestly, just look at his signings, incredible. Murray on a free, Jedi and Ward for pennies, and developing players like Zaha, Joniesta, Clyne etc. The football we were playing just before he left was the best stuff I've ever seen Palace play, and there was a real feeling of collectiveness. Shame it had to end, but in some ways it wouldn't be Palace if it didn't.

I personally would rather be in the Championship playing good, attacking football and bringing through youngsters than in the Premiership playing boring football with boring football. But that isn't to knock Pulis, he's got a job to do and is doing it very well. But he's not, and never will be, one of us.

If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4

When Pulis took over we were 19th with 7 pts.We are now 17th and in his 18 games in charge we have accrued 21 pts.

Freedman was a hell of a lot better than this crap; and he was trying to build a club from nothing upwards, doing a good job about it too. Pulis doesn't know how to build a team and has no interest in building the club.

Think for the rest of us, the username goes a long way in explaining how we all feel about this post....

So more than a point a game then, which will keep you up. In fact if he did that for the entire season we'd get 44 points. Top work Mr Pulis.

We are a decent striker away from being a mid table side. I thought we were excellent saturday against Newcastle , until Pulis decided to play for the point, which he had every right to do seeing as all the results were going in our favour.

Pulis has a job to do and thats survival! end of!

and whos dougie freedman? dead to me now!

Load of tosh.

Look where Stoke were before Pulis arrived, he certainly knows how to build a club and develop it when he has the right people behind and above him.

Today was a really positive performance; the manner of the result was a right kick in the balls, but that's the best we've played in weeks.

We lack a cutting edge up front, but that's not due to TP's selection or tactics. The cards are dealt when it comes to strikers, so we need to make the most of what we've got until we can change that.

I said Pulis has no intention of building a club; not that he couldn't build a club.

Nevermind, what an appropriate username. So what is aiming for survival in the scheme of 'building the club?'

Quite right. If we had that clinical finisher/finishing we'd have had 2-4 or 6 points from our 2 trips to the North East.

Someone else said the tactics are actually right. At the start of the season pundits were saying teams like us are better off retreating than trying to outplay teams. When we started that under Millen, we were on our way. Now the harder teams are against us now, we have to be like that a bit more again.

Freedman, oh yes, oh no. Freedman wanted to play, and still wants to play like a team spectating the opposition when in the Championship. There's a time and a place for respecting the opposition. That is where we are, not where Freedman was, and still is. Fack me, he couldn't stop &rse licking any visiting club to Selhurst in the season before he was advised to drop the 11 crab formation. Forest was the worst. 'A classic smash and grab.' What, 3-0 wasn't it? Pre & post match press conferences were Forest, Forest, Forest, Forest. He may be 'one of us' to a few naive souls on here but at the end of the day he's football professional career man. Pulis cuts the flannel and gives it straight.

Pulis was brought in specifically to keep Palace in the Premiership. Apparently he will receive a handsome bonus for achieving it.

He's in no position to '' build a club '' at the moment. His complete focus is the remaining fixtures.

Yes, it is reminiscent of Freedman's early days as manager. He too had to put a stop to the previous rot by making us harder to beat.

Current tactics make for a frustrating watch, but I think they are the most prudent given the fact we don't have a fully fit striker capable of scoring the goals we need, or indeed the midfield capable of providing a decent service.

As in a number of games this season, you could make a case for us deserving something from the Newcastle match, but as is usual we didn't take any of the few chances we created.
