and southampton also beat us and dont know what difference your hero chamy will make reckon bannen and gayle better options.maybe saturday an attacking display at the toon would surprise them and could be a good tactical ploy.but dont hold your breath as sure it will be another back to the wall 30% possession game.

It is no coincidence that since his enforced absence we have been woeful up front and lacked any creativity what so bleedin ever. He holds up the ball brilliantly allowing our deep set midfield time to get around the ball and support, and his work rate is top notch closing down from the front whenever possible. I would very much like to see Gayle up top with Chamakh as the furthest forward in a midfield of Five: Bolaisie Right Back four picks itself as does Jules the legend. If your going to play the way I have suggested then Pace up front is key, Murray has none. So it would have to be Gayle, I would use Murray if we went behind with say 25 to go, as the above system can easily be changed back to 442 with Murray and Chamakh up front Ledley Supporting the front two Jedi Holding. Having said all that more than happy with where we are so far this season, we are hard to beat as Arsenal and Man United found out, and we are well in with a chance of staying up, ( I fancy Naaarich to drop into Sunderlands spot, and us to stay 4th from bottom) and that in itself would be fcuking massive achievement for a club like ours. So for now, its a case of support shout sing your hearts out for the lads, cross your fingers and toes, pray to the lord god Hommer Simpson that we stay up.

PJH - I share your concern as do most Palace supporters but just imagine if we still had Holloway as manager - we would be relegated already !!!!! Pullis is playing a system to best suit the squad and the situation and nobody can doubt it's success. We have to plug away with this system because our home games are against the most dangerous counter attacking teams and our away games are against our relegation rivals who we cannot allow to beat us. So we defend deep and hope to nick a goal - Saturday would've worked a treat if KG wasn't wearing banana boots!! Keep the faith and even if we do go down it'll be a good season to look forward to in the Championship . Oh and will those idiots who keep shouting " Get Out" whenever we clear the ball please realise that we don't do that under the Pullis system - we defend deep! It drives me mad every game !!!

Have to agree with the OP. The overall picture is to stay up, but Sunderland had to be one of our targets for 3 points as realistically we are not going to pick up too many other points until the end of the season. By not attempting to get 3 points against a very poor Sunderland team, it means that we will most probably have to get 3 points against more difficult opposition to give ourselves a chance of staying up. Many have defended the way we played saying that we are not as established as Sunderland, and we do not have such good players. I disagree with this and believe that our players should have been instilled with confidence and a game plan to attack Sunderland. Instead we just sat back and let a terrible team come on to us. I really don't think Pulis even contemplated any attacking, as the players had no idea what to do when they got over the half way line. A point gained but 2 lost in my opinion. UP THE PALACE!

Did you ever consider that the 'outstanding' defence looks as such, because the system we play offers them a lot of protection? Let's be honest, of the back four that started on Saturday, probably only Ward is really Premiership level. To replace KG (whom I don't rate either) with Bannan would completely upset the system (as Pulis eluded to in his pre-match press conference) and make the 'outstanding' defence look a hell of a lot weaker. If you really believe we'll finish bottom of the league, get down to the bookies, you'd get some good odds on that.
