Pulis looks like he has one short term goal and that is to keep us up. The team selection for the last few matches including today and the tripe we are playing have been disastrous. However, he just might achieve his goal and as it's 0-0 with Sunderland at the moment if it stays that way this 1 point could help achieve that (despite the match boring me to death). Now, I am certainly not saying sack the man no matter what at the end of the season, especially if he manages to keep us up but do we think he is interested in anything other than maintaining his impressive record of never being relegated? For example, with most managers, I'd think they'd play the way Pulis is playing now until the end of the season for necessities sake and then next season we'd see the introduction of a goal scorer (new signing), Williams, Bannan, Guerdiora and Gayle to the starting 11. However, with Pulis, I think it's looking more and more likely that if he stayed, our midfield for the first Premiership match of next season would consist of Jedinak, Ledley and KG. I just think that IF we survive this season, we'd have been somewhat fortunate but that is fair game for what I consider one of the least prepared Premier League teams ever. But next season if we carry on the way we have over the last 4 games, we will definitely get sent to where the rest of the football world think we belong. Thoughts? That is his one and only goal. I honestly don't think that KG or Jedi will be starting for us next term if we are still up. KG is jack of all and master of none whilst Jedi, a beast defensively offers nothing going forwards and is getting more and more culpable for putting us on the back foot with horrendous passing. Pulis is setting up with what he believes is the most balanced squad. It is no way our best technical squad but a team that has pretty much come up together and got us to where we are this season so far. He tried to add a bit of extra quality in Jan and I believe he has, with perhaps the exception of Puncheon but I don't think there was a way round that. KG & Jedi know their games inside out and have a lot of trust in each other, swapping one or t'other now brings in the risk of mistakes. Will the added quality outway that risk with, say Bannan or Guediora?

It's terrible football right now but I guess if we stay up the end justifies the means. If we do and this time next we are still playing s***e then I may feel different.

You can't play pretty football in a relegation scrap! Some people on here have no clue. No-one expects pretty football Penge - just some football now and again would be nice I think let's re-evaluate next season. If we stay up then we'll buy better players who can knock it about a bit. Thing is by not even attempting to look to play and create we run the risk of those around us getting results (as WBA did today, as Fulham did today) so these 0-0 draws at Sunderland mean nothing if they pick up three points We need to take some risks I agree regarding risks and felt he was too negative at home to Southampton. But away at Sunderland, you have to be defensive.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Am I the only one...' by Penge Eagle Who is waiting with his season ticket renewal with the secret hope we go down? I'm not sure I can take this league again next year and the way it forces us to play.
We're playing boring football in a boring league with boring players, and it's f***ing expensive too. Going to new grounds is about the only enticement the Premiership has for me, and the same could be said of League 1. I've not even got particularly excited by anyone we've played this year. I just don't care enough about the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea or Man United and pity their so called fans. I've enjoyed away days to Watford far more than going to that corporate snoozefest that is the Emirates. It's all so f***ing sterile and boring. I'd rather go into games feeling we could win or lose 3-0, rather than what we're seeing currently. It's not like I even expect pretty football, just the odd bit of excitement and attacking intent. I really think if we stay up this year and become a lower mid table premier league side, I'll fall out of love with football very quickly. Edited by Kosowski (15 Mar 2014 5.31pm) For every Watford away, there's a Burnley, Bolton and Blackpool away borefest. You seem to have a short memory. I support Palace and couldn't give a s*** about fans of Arsenal and Chelsea and their atmosphere. I sit in the Palace end where it's buzzing. Please tell me, how can the club progress by staying in the Championship? Maybe you're better supporting a Sunday league side and see loads of goals every week. No corporate stuff at those games.

This is the premiership, the options are champions league, champions, FA Cup winner, League Cup winner, staying up and relegation. Only two of those is something we're likely to ever achieve, and only one of them is what we'd want. If I want beautiful football, I'll watch Arsenal or Barca on the telly, as a neutral.

Forget good football for the rest of the season! We are in a mini league and 4th from bottom comes out on top. For ages I have been saying that I prefer the championship but I have now got a taste for the PL. I like Selhurst being pretty much full for each game, I have got used to queueing in the Railwaymens club for a pre match beer, I like being on MOTD (albeit usually last)and I like watching away games I can't get to the on thinternet. I don't think it is fair to hold TP to account for where we finish this season. He inherited a huge squad of largely middle of the road Championship players. Barring a goal scorer I thought we bought well in the January window. I suspect his one target for this season was to avoid relegation. I fervently hope that he succeeds and I don't care how he does it. He can be expected to play "good Football" next year. Plus, is it really any good if it does not keep us in the PL?

Pulis is not træning to play good football, he's been hired to keep us up! The problem is that he not trying to make us score, and that makes survival difficult although our defence is doing really well...

I'm slightly worried that since Murray's return it seems pulis is setting the team up only to defend, on account of now having a competent finisher up top. With Jerome, who is basically a non scoring striker, whose primary roll seems to be pressing and roughing up the defense, we had to create from elsewhere. Gayle must be on his way in the summer, if I couldn't get picked while Jerome regularly was, I'd be packing my bags now.
