No, he wouldn't have walked. You don't get a red card just for not winning a tackle.

No foul was committed

It is a fact that Jerome Thomas is very injury prone, but except for his silly dive at Swansea he IS no matter what a good crosser of the ball and a lot quicker than JP. But unsure if he can last a whole game...

Dean Moxey is being let off lightly and can share much of the blame as his positioning was terrible and allowed Rodriguez to go.

The fact is it was a horrendous mistake! cost us the game, he knows that! we know that! but that's football.

He's also won us many points along the way. we live to see another day and I see it going down to Fulham away last day.

That's my opinion and its gonna be a rocky ride! This is Palace after all

Unfair to blame puncheon for soton goal. He was entitled to expect better cover behind him. Where was the rest of the defence?

Wouldn't blame Jules either. He was a fractional inch away from making what would have been the best tackle ever made at selhurst park

IMO, Jules did well to make the challenge without getting himself sent off.

Disagree entirely with fowler 's motd comment.

But what does TP think? Will he use the incident as an excuse to replace speroni with Hennessy?

I agree with Fowler. Watching the game live I thought Jules was going to get to the ball first. Having just seen it again on MoTD I think that not only should he have got to the ball first but once he got there, he should have made sure he won it rather than making a powder puff challenge which left Rodrigues with an empty net to aim at. Unfair to blame Puncheon solely for the goal in my opinion.

That's how I saw it too ,once Jules has come he has get there

Not speronis fault imo. Maybe would have been better to stay in his area so he could use his hands, but the challenge could easily have gone wrong and he would have walked.

If it hadn't been a goal ...would Jules have walked???? He didn't get the ball after all

If speroni had missed the ball and brought Rodriguez down, he would have been off. It is a very difficult situation to be in as a goalkeeper, and one that he shouldn't even have been in.

In what way. He was foolishly the only man left back at a corner. Slap bang in the middle of the field just inside our half is the correct position. He was sold short and unable to make a full solid challenge,as a red card was waiting for a mistimed tackle.

At the end of the day it's a team effort. Yes, it was Puncheon's mistake which left Speroni with a 50/50 ball (actually, from where I was sitting at the half-way line, it was more like a 40/60 ball against him and he seemed to do well to get a chance to rescue it) but when you look at it overall, we weren't good enough to get something out of the game. I think Pulis is going to have to roll the dice a bit more, especially against the teams in and around us. Swansea was case in point, the first half he just went for containment and he knew he got it wrong. He has to release the players a bit more. Carries more risk of course but we need a couple more wins to be safe and you need to score to win.

Looking on the bright side, the last time that Puncheon had a howler he scored in the next game

Simple peeps. Palace needs goals and Punchy has scored a few. It's the luck of teams at the bottom where confidence gets sapped and balls are only half played and touches are not full-on. TP has to keep the confidence up and we need to back that. Next game? watch out black cats, or should I should say, pussy?

What are these good games Puncheon has had ????

How he get s a start most weeks is beyond me, as much as i think Bannon is better in CM he is definitely better than Puncheon out wide.

I agree. If we go down by one point it is entirely due to that game. He is not my kind of player at all.
