I great idea as well to do it against United, a team we were never realistically expected to beat. Essentially a free game - It allowed Chamakh, Ince, Murray and Puncheon to get game time togeather, in an environment where they would have to work hard just to participate.

Still unsure on Puncheon. Sometimes he flatters to frustrate, and then at othertimes he's remarkable. What impresses me most on Saturday is how often we managed to get the ball back in their half, and how many headers Murray won.

Chamakh might very well be one of the hardest working attacking players I've seen. Him and Murray will be fantastic togeather.

F-ck me...... Now its pick on Murray time and he's only been back 5 minutes.

Is there some way we could cypher out cretinous waffle bol-ox before it gets posted on the HOL.

ok just for you Ian I will share the obvious. Murray marshalls the front line better than both Jerome and of course Gayle who runs round like a headless chicken until he has the ball at his feet then he looks dangerous. Jerome holds the ball up the best out of the 3 but not by far from Murray as he equally does a superb job here IMO. Gayle when given the opportunity can score as we have already seen this season, Jerome cant. Murray on the other hand knows how to create space for himself in tight situations something gayle will learn over time, something we haven't got at present. Overall Murray is not only technically better than both Jerome and Gayle, but he also has their best qualities rolled into one. As for his dip in scoring goals last season, I was very pleased that he managed to score 31 goals in 3/4 of a season and that for me tell me how accomplished he is at scoring. Which again is something we need right now. We have tried the other format with both jerome and gayle and its not that effective in both cases. When Murray becomes sharper and Pulis knows this he will get that extra space all be it a few feet and start to score. I thought it was a master stroke playing Murray from the outset against Manure, because it would of been a coo if we got something from the game and also give Murray a good test against vidic as to what to expect from top premier league opposition in the weeks to come. Murray will score goals you can count on that in this division, I thought he marshalled the front line well in his first start for palace and to start to knock him before he gets started was way to harsh. Maybe in the OP's defence my he maybe a newish fan by his joining date and didn't get to see how affective Murray was last season.

CPFC through and through since 1984, thank you very much.

If it's one thing that winds long-term fans up is the assumption we only started following the team on the day we signed-up for this forum.

For your information the internet as we know it today wasn't around in the eighties.

I think I speak for a lot of people here.

Interesting that Jerome has spent the majority of his career a Premiership footballer, compared to Murray who has only had 2 and a half seasons above league 1, yet most agree that Murray is the superior player.

Really highlights a lot of flaws in youth recruitment/development in this country IMO.

Jesus is it only me that thinks chamakh was shocking against Man U? He couldn't control the ball and didn't really carry a threat... He had a few glimpses of goodness but it has to be said from me that Murray carried much more of a threat up top. I would like to see chamakh rested possibly to accommodate ince into the number 10 role with bolasie out wide again... Murray is so good at flicking and laying of and then getting into good positions to score goals that it think ince and muzza could form a quality partnership

Well sorry to shock you, but, yes you may be the only person to think Champers was shocking against Manure. I have recorded the match and looked back over his performance to try to qualify your remarks. To no avail, I'm afraid. Time and again his control and la-offs were highly skillful. One weakness was (is) his desire to take shots. I thought this was confidence initially, but now I accept it is his style. The Chammack/Murray partnership may just work. But for your own sake, go back over the match again. I'm not wrong, I assure you.

Considering it was his first game for 10 months I thought Murray was excellent, when he is fully match fit he will cause BPL defences all sorts of problems.

don't know what odds i'll get but I'm putting a tenner on Murray finishing this season with 8 goals.

Stay out the way of the Southern thing.

Can I just ask all posters to discuss the topic at hand without insulting one another. I'm sure we're all capable of giving an opinion without having to resort to abuse.

For what its worth I like Murray and want him to do well but I wouldn't have started him on Saturday with Chamakh. I would have got him to come on in the second half. Irrespective of who played, a Man Utd side with a 10 day break since their last fixture would always over come us in the end.

Its nice to try different formations but Murray and Chamakh is more likely to work when you're trying to salvage something from the game rather than trying to win it from the off.
