How many of our new so called 'plastics' where at Sheffield Wednesday on that famous day in May 2010.
I do love being in the premier league but being in that near 5000 strong crowd going mental at the end is what being a palace fan is all about.

I agree with Bubble Wrap i won't be that gutted if we do go down as the Championship is exciting and we will get the hardcore fans only at away games.

I was there but then didn't have another season ticket until this season. I avoid radiators and direct sunlight at all costs.

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Can't make many games these days as I have a mortgage, work and family. In fact I am so plastic that I'm much happier at matches in the bleak midwinter where there is no chance of melting. Carlisle at home in the 80s was perfect one, cold and no chance of mass body heat softening me up . Went to Samsunspor and needed weeks being re-moulded.

Yeah great thread! Let's get relegated so the gate drops by 8,000 people and interest in our club starts to fall away, we'll have less tv money and the stadium won't get developed. BUT on a positive we'll have 'hardcore' only away fans in the lower league, fondly remembering when we almost went down to the third tier of English football for the first time in years and years AND there won't be any 'so called plastics' at Selhurst park either, spending their hard earned money and putting much needed revenue into the club! I would be gutted if we went down as, strange as it seems, I would rather watch Arsenal away in the PL knowing the club are financially stable and in a better position to push on.

I was there! But I wasn't at Sheffield in 2010 so I'm plastic! It's strange isn't it - I can't remember us calling anyone plastic when Sir Steve started to work his magic and the gates began to climb again or did we and my memory is selective?

the excitement comes from being involved in a battle at the top or the bottom. If it goes to the wire in the Premier League then there'll be the same excitement. Had we got relegated at Sheff Weds then no one would be talking about it, which is probably why there's a stigma about the PL (with some fans) as we have never survived!

With the new TV money I think within a couple of years the Championship will have a two tier structure like the PL anyway, with richer clubs dominating the top 8 or so spots.

Stupid question Mr 'Im a better fan than you'!
6000ish sell out the palace end that day , so how on earth could every palace fan have been there ? There is not a team in the world where every fan goes to every game , its impossible ! People can choose to go when they want . Get on with your own life and stop judging others.

I AM A PLASTIC FAN.........
I used to go to matches in 1959 when I was 9 up untill I was 16 since then only the odd game until I was 25 ,I have not been to a game since .But that does not stop me being a fan now, I live 120 miles away from Selhurst Park, Thats no reason I know but with a 50inch plasma TV its like being there without the hassel. My team is Palace and always will be, it does not stop me being a fan and all that goes with it, the joy the hope the dispare the sorrow. There are diffent levels of being a fan ,, I am a low level fan now .Moan about me and others if you like but where will you be when your 60+.

Avoiding the plastic debate.

I was at that game, and to think we were minutes from going down to League 1.

Calvin Andrew started for us and Stern John came on. We've come along way.

And I also made about £6 in loose change thrown at me, watched it back on BBC and they didn't make too much of the trouble post game.

Was a surreal day, but that's Palace for you, we have always had some type of drama/excitement that has kept us going and in the lat few years really unified the fans ( no matter where they are).

Paul Hart did a great job steadying the ship.

I wasn't and I don't have a season ticket. Am I a plastic? It's not about being *hardcore it's about being able to afford going to games!

As for not being bothered about being back in the championship, I am, we're in the prem and that's where I wanna stay.
I would love us to build on the squad we have now and become even stronger by signing some exciting players.

Add the fact that with Premiership money the Stadium will get done up bit by bit why would anyone wanna go back.

I've only read the op and this post, I don't need to read any more, miles18 has nailed it.
