My dad told me that Martin was a different class. That he was... That's a record for Palace that cannot be expunged, the first £million goalie. The sale of Bill Glazier to Coventry (bought by Jimmy 'chin' Hiil was a then record of £65,000. The sale of the ledgendary Alec Stepney from Millwall to Man Utd got nowhere near that!

I recall Nigel Martyn's first game for Palace which was a 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham.Lovely chap who used to live in Shirley. Last time I spoke to him was a few years ago at a funeral in Beckenham - he told me that he was living in Harrogate.

Jules has single handedly kept our heads above water on some ocasions for example, them crucial saves against sheff wed on laat day of season and against brighton in play offs and they are only 2 examples of continous heroics performed by this guy. His loyalty has been great too. For anyone who has said he is not our best keeper ever have a look on youtube and search speroni tribute. Hopefully it will change your opinions, not that the others wernt good but jules truly deserve a legendary status as our bet and most loyal goalkeeper in our history.

1st million pound 'keeper when we bought him, sold for a record fee for a 'keeper and played for England while at Palace.

Martyn! For his back flips alone, but ability wise. If it wasn't for Seaman, he would have got a lot more England caps. Jules in 2nd - Can't say anymore about the man that hasn't already been said. But I thought Day, Nash and Vaessen where all decent. I can only go back to 88 so missed the other legends!
