The way I see it, the only point in getting a new stadium is to increase capacity. It cannot be a coincidence the top clubs have the biggest grounds and those clubs that ought to be be there have the same facility, (Sheff Wed, Leeds). I suppose if you want the best players you need to pay the best wages. Income provides for that. A 40,000 capacity must be the very least for Palace to develop.

The idea of seeing a 40,000+ crowd in Selhurst again is very appealing, (what an atmosphere it was). However, we have never, in our entire history, averaged crowds above 30,000. Is it worth having a stadium that you can fill only five times a season when all the other games have yawning gaps in the stands? And realistically if we go back to the Championship any time we are likely to have a lot of empty space. In the medium term I think 35,000 would be more than enough.

We'd all like the ground upgraded but the capacity is fine as it is. If we stay up this season, it will be our most succesful period for over twenty years and we still wouldn't sell 30k tickets.

It's much more important to have a compact stadium designed to generate as much noise as possible and that we can realistically fill up on a regular basis.

The Main Stand is an absolute disgrace and as for the "posh" carpeting recently put on the staircases, that is beginning to lift already and will no doubt before long become dangerous.
There is too much patching up.
Let's hope the new stand is built sooner rather than later

I would put up with going to another stadium for one season whilst building work was going on !! If it meant an even better stadium then why not???

Wonder if Charlton would return the favour and allow us to share the Valley for a season or two?

i'd rather watch palace play on the purley way field than there.

Me too but to be in the Prem and have a stand being built during a season is madness, they could build a new main stand and a new AW while we played away from Selhurst, What about the Bridge?

not sure if the new stadium is any time soon

but I do think we missed a opportunity in the Arthur with this gantry, don't think It would have taken much to make this a load bearing truss and added a few pylons either side to remove all/some the supporting beams.

could have cleared the restricted view seats in there?

I think we will pop into Upton Park for a year while Selhurst is redeveloped, I think this because a few times it was mentioned our redevelopment would be affected by who got the Olympic stadium.

If we redeveloped the stands .... Would we rename them? Maybe
Main stand .... coppell stand?
Sainsburys end ..... Allison end?
Arthur stays the Arthur
Holmesdale stays the same

That was when CPP was still a possibility and the location of a national atheletics stadium was still a question. CPFC2010 have been quite clear that Selhurst Park will be developed a stand at a time with no suggestion of us moving anywhere whilst the work is ongoing.
