Professional, focused and hard working manager something we have been missing and what is needed to stay in the Premier League. 'Football's love affairs' rarely work.
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

As somebody has really stated , it just isn't his style. He praises us constantly though which is good. He said he told Murray to warm up every 15 minutes yesterday to give the crowd a bit of a booster , which he said we didn't really need though as we were superb as always. One thing I love is that you can seem to hear him barking instructions to the players from the sideline more often and louder than any other manager than i can remember.Wasn't too sure when he was appointed but can say that i have already been well and truly won over. Tony Pulis' red n blue army !
"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!" |

I am sure Tony Pulis felt pretty aggrieved of his treatment and sacking by Stoke City, which he has every right to be. So i am not surprised by his slightly detached attitude since joining Palace. But you have got to hand it to him he knows how to organise his teams. One thing i picked up on yesterday and this might be totally irrelevant, but just as WBA were getting back into the game in the second half and the crowd were getting slightly edgy, he got Glen Murray to warm up along the touchline and this got the crowd buzzing again. Sometimes its the little things which have the greatest impact... Edited by Gary St.Andrews (09 Feb 2014 8.48am)

Watching him on tv last night he was very animated when the penalty went in, he was smiling, arms up with clenched fists. It lasted seconds and when he turned round the mask went up, straight faced and serious again. As others have said he is professional and we are the better for it. Also Welcome back Glenn we have missed you!

I kinid of understand where Kermit is coming from, because Palace has always been a smallish family-type club. The vision that comes into my head is: Kermit awakening from a deep sleep in his marital double-bed. God, that was a great night last night. The shout of a manly voice from the shower asks,.." Kermit!, did you hear the Stoke result from yesterday ?" Tis a bit like sleeping with the enemy, but it's results what count. Warnock loved Sheffield, and Venables nearly raped the club to death ,..twice. No doubt Croydon has provided a huge culture-shock for Pulis. Hopefully our fans and club can settle him in.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Would much rather a manager that knows exactly what he is doing, is very tactically aware of our opponents and carries the respect of everyone around him rather than a manager who tells us what we want to hear, says how brilliant the fans are ect ect. He is probably still a little hurt at how Stoke dropped him after all the good work he did.

I find it quite refreshing that we have a manager who is not falling over himself to flatter us after 5 minutes in charge. Think TP has too much integrity for that. Most of the comments here have been spot on. Let's not repeat the transfer window madness and imagine a problem where there is none! However, here's a reminder of his response: 'When asked about the speculation over his position, Pulis, who has never been relegated in his managerial career, said: “I’m not one of those people. I spent 10 years at Stoke. “The supporters have been absolutely wonderful, absolutely fantastic. There would have to be a massive reason to leave and let them down. I’d find that very difficult to do.”' Nice one Tony. EDIT: Quotes from here, btw [Link] Edited by Joeberto (09 Feb 2014 2.22pm)

I just don't get this at all. TP constantly praises our supporters and has only good things to say about the club. He had 10 years at Stoke. To say Holloway bought into Palace more is quite wrong, just remember all his conferences when we would reminisce about Blackpool and he wasn't there anywhere near 10 years. Lots of complaints on here last year about that. TP is dead right not to get excited yet. Masses to do if we are to stay up. Also this is not his team yet. I think he has only had good things to say. All the bad stuff has been idle speculation from the press.

Lighten up.
It just feels very strange after so many years to finally get a fvcking good manager in the top league but at the same time having to realise that he will always care more about Stoke than he will about us. Edited by Kermit8 (09 Feb 2014 12.21am)

Superb manager. Really good. He's gonna keep us up for sure. But hearing his post-match interview it is obvious that he hasn't got an ounce of love for Palace and to him it is just a job and a great challenge. Venables, Coppell and even Dowie......they somehow belonged even if short-lived for two of them. Is this the reason why there are no TP songs? The fact that we all know that this relationship has zero to do with passion and everything to do with pragmatism? I love the fact we are going to stay up but i don't like the other fact that I can't warm to our manager even though i admire him. The drawback of success? Edited by Kermit8 (09 Feb 2014 12.13am) I agree, Instead of saying 'us' or 'we' he always refers to the club/team as 'the football club' which is a clear indication that there is no love there at all and its just a job.
