The op is quite right, let's have an 15stone butch lesbo amongst our crystal cheerleaders, cropped hair, tattoo , jeans and check shirt, that wouldn't look out of place would it?

Nothing like a bit of stereotyping is there? I suppose all the gay men you know look like the Village People too. Now there's a thought........

Yes they do, most of which you will find down the white horse, selhurst pre match.

So, if, for argument's sake, we can agree that 5% of the population, is Lesbian or Gay then I would like to see that reflected in the make up of the Palace Crystals. Today, there were, I think, 12 members dancing on the pitch. Of course, I have no idea if any of the girls are lesbian but nevertheless there still should still be room statistically for one or two gay men to be part of the troupe.

0.6 people of the 12 based on your estimations.

Well, its 1.5% according to the Office of National Statistics.

But I have no doubt the BRIT school could provide a diverse troop to complement the Crystals.

Here is an article on Statistics:

I'm sure you will all be delighted with the 'Gay Capital?' section, where it states

The percentage of Britons saying they're gay, lesbian or bisexual is far higher in London than anywhere else in the UK - 2.5% compared to just 1.1% in Northern Ireland and 1% in the East of England.

I applaud your 2nd attempt to try to stir it up a little by quoting statistics but sadly it does not appear to be working very well either? Maybe you could try strictly come dancing or dancing on ice and ask them why there are no gay couples dancing as surely that does not recognise the population demographic?

I tried contacting them but it looks like someone else has got in first with that idea:

Such nonsence that I shouldn't respond but what would be the point of drawing attention to overtly gay participation in pre-match and half time entertainment? As the original poster says ...we have no idea whether any of the Crystals are gay - why should we? It's absolutely none of our business anyway!!!!

Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

They could always get Lionel Blair to arrange the choreography.

Lionel Blair isn't gay.

Oh look. It's another 'I'm a bender, look at me' statement.

Why do the likes of you, Julian Clarey, Graham Norton, Gok Wan, Louis Spence et al feel the need to let everyone know what you are ?

By the way, have I let everyone here know that I'm straight.

Do I bite? Ok.

To pick someone purely based on their sexuality is discrimination.

Personally, for whatever job someone is doing I expect it to be given to the best person and the person who has earned it. Not just given to an ethnic minority or homosexual to fill a quota.

Would you like it if your airline turned round and said "sorry but before we fly we've realised we don't have 1.5% of our crew as homosexual employees so we've replaced the pilot with a gay bloke. He can't fly but hey, at least we're not discriminating!".

I think you might find that more than 1.5% of the average flight crew are gay.

Hello, as a Gay man, I would like to see proportionate gay/lesbian representation in the Palace Crystals. So, if, for argument's sake, we can agree that 5% of the population, is Lesbian or Gay then I would like to see that reflected in the make up of the Palace Crystals. Today, there were, I think, 12 members dancing on the pitch. What does the liberal, free thinking membership of HOL think of my suggestion?

so 22 men running on a pitch getting sweaty isn't enough???

As a strictly heterosexual male i would like to see the Crystals show more cleavage and along with smaller outfits.

Apart from that they are perfect.... next.
