OP is reading far too much into Tom's word, I don't get the analogy of Tom's statement and his in the opening post. Remembering staffie for ever!, a gentleman and true great. unfortunately the HOL will never be the same without him.

He said: "I did consider it, but when I went in for tackles I started crying afterwards. So I though I’d best get myself out wide, out of the way and out of danger!" Are you on a wind up?! I don't see anything wrong with his interview at all, he is just describing how he plays... Its all true anyway, he did get the most assist in the Championship and he did score a lot of goals 1 on 1. Which is why everybody is so excited about this transfer. He is confident in his own ability I don't see no wrong with that, would you rather he said he was s***? Mong!

Debate is contention in argument; dispute, controversy; discussion; especially the discussion of questions of public interest in Parliament or in any assembly.

I believe this one sided point of view cannot technically be a debate
