If we became Selhurst Eagles I would not be happy.

I can understand that but personally I wouldn't get in a hissy fit if we were called 'Crystal Palace Eagles' ! Would always be referred to as 'Crystal Palace' or 'Palace' !

As others have said the supporters don't seem to mind too much when the chairman is chucking money around, very fickle fans, that's unusual

As to singing this: "City City" as a form of support for their cause, wtf are you on op, we are there to support our team and no-one else, if the same thing happened to us I doubt we would get too much support and ultimately we would just get on with it, we've been through 2 admins and I don't remember too many wishing us luck, so fvck Hull Tigers.

Its our job to big up Palace, not empathise with the opposition.

I feel sorry for Hull, but try to concentrate on getting behind our lads to inspire them to stay up.

Quite right.

After the Hull fans sang we're City till we die I was disappointed with our fans response. For those who were not there,we sang "your not City anymore".I thought a nice gesture would have been a brief chant of "City City as a form of support for their cause.

Just think, if we were taken over by a rich American for instance and he wanted to rebrand us to "The Crystal Eagles",how would we like it if opposing fans sang "your not Palace anymore"

I hope everyone over the age of thirty agrees with me,what do you think?

Well this is really a caring post. Asking opposing fans to consider feelings! I take exception to the sound of hissing at the Lane or 'Going down' at Old Trafford. But I find 'Palace. who the f***s Palace' and we hate Nottingham Forest (good scanning rythm) kinda funny. And I'm not sure I want Seagull fans getting behind me! As I said to Cardiff Reds, we get nothing for our song about 'Alice', but how much is your red chairman paying to get his way? Anyway, we've always called them 'Kingston on Hull in our house, just like Eddy Waring!

Quote I'mPalace Till I Die at 30 Jan 2014 12.33pm

I hope it causes unrest and sends them down (one less relegation place for Palace to worry about). On the other hand I hope it doesn't happen as this would set a precedent and it could be a name change circus out there with all sorts of rebranding going on. I think any club that wants to change their name should start in the bottom league again and sacrifice their place. I completely disagree with the Hull chairman when he came out and said it's his business and he should be allowed to do what he wants. It is still a sport at the end of the day and they founded with a set name, so why should they be allowed to just change it.

You're sort of right. In the US so many NLF teams have cottoned on to this rebranding and even relocation nonsense and the loyalty of fans has become strained. But thats howe it is. I have grandchildren who support Man Utd and Liverpool (I know). They have no sense of the passion and belonging we experience and it is just a national brand selling operation and you are right to have spotted it. The Hull bloke is a foreign investor and may be as my grandkids. I have little campassion for the Hulls fans over the chanting thing, but, like the Glaziers at Utd and the situation at Chelski, we need to be vigilant. Maybe a little unity is needed here. After all if a little supporter appreciation and unity been around when Sky turned up and engineered the Prem English football would be a bit healthier as a game in general than the flashy glitter ball it now is.

Allam is not some distant foreign owner. He has lived in this country for very many years and was educated in Hull.

Quote Beaverwilly at 30 Jan 2014 12.55pm

I had a look on their forum after the game and quite a few of them felt it ok to look down at us with a billy big b*llocks type attitude. A couple of them even saying we are no better than a dirty sunday league side.

Ok so it's sour grapes, but if this is the type of attitude they have towards us and maybe other clubs then why the f**k should we be showing them our support?

Without Allam's money they wouldn't be in the position to be so patronising.

I suggest you go and read it again then. The majority of people on that forum were being sensible. Just a few idiots including the OP. A very good quote from a Palace fan too.

But the point is, it doesn't matter what others do, really it's not our concern. It's how we want to be ourselves. And I want us to be seen as the mature, well considered, influential set of fans that everyone else admires. Not a bunch of juvenile name callers.

Our barracking of the opposition is meant to be, and is, in fun. When it comes down to it we don't want to see others fail or have a crap time as long as we are OK. It's in our DNA that we aren't xenophobic, we actually like ourselves and other people, we aren't a hate club. We don't stoop to the lowest common denominator.

In short, we ain't MillScum. We are loud, proud and Palace.
