Am I being too optimistic to think it might go more like this? West Brom (3)
I would say out of the teams we have left to play as long as all of Sunderland,Cardiff,West Ham and Fulham don't get maximum points of us we should be ok. We obviously need to win a couple of games and get a few draws or whatever way round but you need to take points of the bottom teams around you so as long as none get maximum points off us they will not be gaining on us during that game so that should be our aim.
Swansea, Sunderland, Fulham, Cardiff, West Ham , West Brom, Villa, - Draws as a minimum for the aways - wins for the home games - 10 points there for us but more importantly making those around us get their wins against the top ten sides Edited by The Sash (29 Jan 2014 1.45pm)

Going to go to the wire and can see a situation on the last day where half a dozen clubs could still be relegated. League has turned in to 2 mini leagues and although its nail biting, its certainly exciting. Loving this year and lets be honest , we are probably in a better position than most people could have hoped for. We may not be the silkiest team out there but not short on determination and hard work. Players from last season have grown with every game. Well impressed.

we have 5 more than the other so they have 22points, and with over half the season gone I cant see all of them turning their form around. Edited by Skinster (29 Jan 2014 1.39pm)

Just some food for thought i had a look at the last 10 yrs and only once has teh 40 mark been needed (10/11) with wigan needing 38 in 07 to survive on GD. Every other year the 36/37 would have been enough so while the holy grail touted as 40 its not he be all and end all. 2003/04 - Everton survived with 39 but 34 would have been enough (would have gone back further but i thought i was being nerdy enough at 10 :P )

Do able, but not easy. The factor we have at the moment is that we're not in an average kind of form, and grinding out points, and not conceeding goals. The big signifier that we can do this has been the resolute perfomances away to Man City and Chelsea where we proved difficult to beat comfortably. Of course theres also the risk of Jerome hitting a purple patch of form and slotting a few home.

I don't think Pulis will let the lads effort dip not one single bit. We will get turned over still quite a few times but I'd be amazed if we couldn't pull even just three more wins out of the bag which will mean at least it will be going to the wire. 3 wins 2 draws 10 losses. That may just do it for us. What a bloody great and amazing position we find ourselves in. Unbelievable really.

We don't need 17 points. It's now widely accepted that the safety mark is 38 points and in all probability less. Only 3 teams in the last 10 years, from among 30 relegated, have missed that mark. In the same reason a couple of years ago two went down with 39 (including Ollie's Blackpool team -- in a freak year). And Colin's Sheff Utd. team went down on goal difference with 38. The other 27 sides to reach 38 points all stayed up. Indeed, generally 35 or 36 points will see you safe (not that we'd want to risk it). In some years, 32 would have been enough. Be clear, this is a freak season at both ends of the table. Things are very compressed. That being the case it is highly likely that it's a year where not many points will be needed to survive as teams will take points off each other. In 2009/10 the three teams that went down had 30, 30, and 19 points. This season could well throw up similarly low totals. If we get to 38 points, we are nailed on to survive. I suspect 35 will be enough.

Surprised so many are assured and confide t that we will get a result at swansea.. they destroyed us at home and should have comfortably won with more goals on the board. I think swansea and arsenal are the only sides in the league that Pulis or not we will struggle to handle. We are generally torn apart by quick passing and I struggle to see us getting anything from them. Over than that agree it wll be a low point tally unless 2 teams completely slip off the pace. Expect something nortg of 34 to do the job. Which is achievable for us but definitely wont be straightforward!

Massive 3 points yesterday. With the 15 games to go,i reckon our results could turn out as follows; West Brom (3) ..... And Away Arsenal (0) That's 15more points, giving us 38 which fingers crossed i quietly pray are enough for Palace to stay up. Eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagles
