That was the sort of game I enjoy in retrospect - I was able to sit back on the train journey home, in soaking wet trousers, with the warm glow of another 3 points in the bag. At the time, though, it was often painful to watch.

Yes, how did we win that? We certainly seemed to do our best to throw it away in the first part of the second half as we ran around like headless chickens. It does worry me that if we keep losing composure like that we will eventually be punished.

Still there were positives. Puncheon is becoming a goal scoring machine! Delaney again put in a great shift and I thought Jerome played one of his best games for us. And it almost goes without saying Ward turned in another quality performance.

Definitely didnt agree with the first substitution. Playing 3 centre backs (6 defenders in total incl Ward) left us confused. Moxey was isolated time after time, and they kept going round him with ease, which wasnt his fault, he just had no cover. Twice they nearly scored when it was 2 on 1 with Moxey. Stabalised a bit when O'Keefe came on though. Should have got Wilbs on a bit earlier too, as he held the ball up alot better than Jerome.

Have to disagree on Joel Ward's performance as I thought he had a poor game by his standards.

As for Jedi, could it be that he is slightly inhibited by the return of Paddy?

Its just a thought on the possibility that part of his confidence comes from being the recognised leader.

Parked the bus 65 minutes in...9 times out of 10 that would have ended badly. Nonplusing subs from Pulis.

Jedi having possibly the worst game ever in a Palace shirt.

Hull missing one chance after another.

Strangest second half of football I've watched in years.

Fans certainly did as much as anyone to get the 3 points. Delaney was a beast.

Think you missed what he was doing there fella - didn't everyone used to complain about Freedman & Holloway not being able to change the game ? Pulis knew exactly what he was doing - changed to 3-5-2 when it was needed, then when Hull changed again, he then was brave enough to go back to 4-4-2 with another sub. He definitely won the tactical battle with Bruce. Great in-game management.

What didn't help him was how badly we played in the second half. Jedi who is my favourite player and usually a beast had his worst game for 2 years and there were so many misplaced passes and clearances. Puncheon played excellently - some great man-management there by Pulis bigging him up after the penalty miss and like you say Delaney was also impressive. The only negative was us sitting too deep and inviting pressure - Hull were poor until their tails were up and we let them play.

3 things won us the game in my opinion:

1. Pulis' great management
2. The fans support
3. That Hull are rubbish

Yep, this is basically the assessment of the night. We aren't always going to be that luck, actually when are we ever!? It actually highlights how we really need some new attacking players who can score to help relieve some of the pressure from these games

A good summary Finchers, the only thing I would disagree with is that Hull aren't sh!t, if Jelavic gets up to speed quickly, he will get them goals, Long on the other hand is pony and at £6m to buy out the remaining 6 months of his contract looks like desperation on fat noses part. I reckon they'll stay up as we will

There was always going to be a game when the Jedi was going to put in a poor shift, well he has done that now and got it out of his system and we still got the three points. He will be back to his rock steady best on Sunday.

I support Scotland, Hibs and the Palace, no glory hunters here!!!!!!

Just before the sub they were bombarding our goal time after time. As soon as Paddy came on, the ship was steadied. Looked a strange substitution at the time, but for me it worked a treat and like someone else pointed out he then changed it later on by replacing Gabbidon once we were settled again. The wrong sub at that point (or no sub) we would have surely conceded the way it was going. Superb tactics for me

Agree with most posts on this thread esp re Jedi. Everyone has a bad day at the office, last night it was his turn, it happens and given past displays this was clearly an abberation. Moxey looked pretty exposed to guys bearing down on him (not for the first time sadly). On the plus side, and I see most posters are in agreement, Delaney was absolutely magnificent and when it came to "squeeky bum" time at the end kept his composure.
Just worried about what was said at half-time. From the 2nd half performance it looks like TP said "OK guys, Hull are cr^p so go easy on them, give them a chance".....

before i get shot down in flames it was great to get three points and i suppose its all about staying up this season and securing a footing in the premiership. But surely next season we will have to perform in a more attacking manner as i am sure that back to the wall negative tactics against mediocre sides aka Hull wont be pretty week in week out for the selhurst faithful..Maybe it was pullis getting some park the bus practice for the emirates on sunday.Holloways tactics certainly not successful but maybe theres a middle ground that could be successful next year.
Also dont know if its only me but is anyone else finding it strange that Jules has taken to punching crosses away that he previously caught.More Pullis tactics.

Lets hope so because we are going to need him. I just felt he looked tired all match, apart from the final ten minutes or so where he seemed to get a second win and won a few crucial midfield battles. I'm sure its just a one off like you say and he will be back to his best soon.

A second year in the PL may well help us attract a better class of player so I'd hope that we would be more attacking.

At least we've now got three points in the rain, we've struggled with the weather conditions recently.

We adopted the Dowie Method - win ugly.
