I don't really believe this but it must be frustrating for TP see all these players not want to come to CPFC due to poor offers. What poor offers have we made?. If other clubs want to pay the likes of Crouch 40k plus a week let them unless players have a resale value then big fees and big wages do not go together get them on frees then pay them the big wages.I hope we can get some players in but it must be on our terms.

It is a very worrying thought that he could leave. You must say, though, that surely Pulis is frustrated with how the transfer window has gone so far. He must be wondering why he is not able to bring in any players yet Holloway was. This would particularly be frustrated IF he was given assurances over having decent transfer funds before joining us. Obviously none of us know for sure what is happening behind the scenes but from the outside looking in I am a little concerned at this point. That said, I will judge the situation at the end of the window and at the end of the season. John anybody can leave.

I think this is utter garbage. If we go down I think we have the right manger to get us back up, if we stay up we have the right manager to push us on.... This just makes me more deluded with the world of football. TP signed a contract with us it took long enough. 2 months down the line supposedly ready to throw the towel in or see if he gets his 1 million bonus for staying up .......I honestly believe he has more about him than that. Hasn't he ???!!
Apparently this was down to the re-assurance that funds would be available to him in January to strengthen the squad. Now it seems there may be strings attached to that. And that appears to be the problem. Of course this is only conjecture based upon newspaper reporting. How true it is, nobody knows. But this is a story that isn't going away, and every day that goes by without a signing adds fuel to the fire. My take on it is that SP wants his cake and to eat it too. Only sign players that have a potential gain when selling is all well and good for the long term. But sometimes you have to think short term and I'm not convinced that he has that mentality. It's a difficult call, especially given our recent past. But having got Moody and Pulis in place, then why not use them.....

We have made shed loads of signings we should play them or endeavour to sell.!!

16 summer signings screwed up the jan window nothing else, I should imagine TP was told to clear some out before more came in makes the book balance so to speak. 6 days left have a moan when the windows shut if we don't get anyone better in, but I think 3 will come in now some have gone, when have palace ever done things the easy way!
and now Fred Davis will try for the pink, for those watching in black n white its just behind the green.......... |

But our manager has decreed that the squad needs strengthening to increase our chances of staying up. I agree with him. As for targets, I'm sure TP has a list of players and is not just focussing on one or two individuals. The summer signings were made in haste and under a different manager. I think most would agree that Palace made a hash of it. As for selling them, I imagine we would make a substantial loss on the likes of Kebe, Dobbie, Gayle etc.

I did understand that this Moody fella was supposed to be the 'bees knees' at negotiations/ contracts, so sad there is no new blood yet. That said, Crouch is not the style of player I like. But there may still be progress as we near the end of the month, the cat and mouse game ends and the crazy last minute dealings are done.

TP signed a contract with us it took long enough. 2 months down the line supposedly ready to throw the towel in or see if he gets his 1 million bonus for staying up .......I honestly believe he has more about him than that. Hasn't he ???!! Not only do I believe that there is truth in this story but I have already said that there is a likelihood that Pulis will walk away if Parish doesn't support him. Far too many people on this board believe everything fed to them by the board whilst at the same time decrying anything in the media that they don't like as rubbish. Tony Pulis took a long time to be convinced to take this job and I'm sure that most of the conversation wasn't about his remuneration but he was trying to ascertain how much commitment the directors had to keeping the club in the Premiership and it was only when they confirmed that they were indeed committed did he accept the job. I would imagine that Pulis stressed at the outset that in his opinion the squad wasn't good enough and that it would need to be strengthened in the January window and a budget for players would have been agreed in advance and it was probably based on those promises that Pulis accepted the job. It is very sad to see that having done his part far better than we could have hoped it now seems as if Steve Parish is going back on his promises and when it comes to the crunch he is going back on all of his agreements. How do I know all of this. I don't but it has the ring of truth about it. It is fairly obvious that Ebenezer Parish is hoping to be able to run a Premiership football club but with Championship players and wages structures. If I were Tony Pulis and I was faced with a chairman who had gone back on his word and was asking me to keep his club in the Premiership with one hand tied behind my back I would probably have a word with a close friend who would then have a whisper in the ear of a friendly journalist so whilst many of you can continue to bury your heads in the sand I believe that this story has the ring of truth about it. Somebody earlier on in the thread mentioned asset stripping. I don't believe that there is any likelihood of asset stripping but I do believe that Parish always acts in the best interests of the shareholders and not necessarily of the club and I have come to the conclusion that the gang of four have probably taken us as far as they can go and the three less vocal shareholders should try and persuade Parish that it's in both their and the club's best interests if they try and sell on to someone who is willing to fund the club at the required levels to stay in the Premiership. If it came to a showdown I would rather see a change in ownership than manager and the four could walk away with a handsome profit as well as our heartfelt thanks for what they have done to date as whilst I can see Tony Pulis taking us onwards and upwards I can't see the shareholders taking us any further.

Whilst this story may not have come from the mouth of Tony Pulis or close friends but the basis of it is what myself and other posters have started to post about on this board? I think it's plain to see that TP is frustrated, we are down to 3rd or 4th choice players as the wage structure didn't allow the better players.
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |
