Zico is here on the HOL :P Jerry Murphy (1976-85) Murphy was a product of Palace's successful youth team of the 70s and made his first-team debut as a teenager, going onto play for the "Team of the Eighties". He was a stylish midfielder with great passing attributes, making him a regular in the side from 1978. Murphy was born in East London but his father was Irish and he won three international caps for Ireland. He scored 25 goals in 269 appearances and Palace fans were disappointed when he left for Chelsea as a free agent in 1985. His career at Stamford Bridge was blighted with injuries and nowhere near as good as it was at Palace and the Blues cancelled his registration in 1988. He migrated to Australia and is now aged 44. Though he is believed to be back in his native East End, coaching youngsters football. (This is from this website)
There is also a someone with the same name who is a youth coach at Fulham, could be him?
Why would anyone chose to be a Seagull? The Eagle is a far superior creature. The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace. |

Recently I played golf in Hampshire with three guys who all got together for the day. I mentioned to one, who i'd never met before, that I was a season ticket holder and saw my first game in 1965. It turned out that his father in law was none other than John Jackson. He still loves to talk football and has a huge scrapbook from is playing days. A couple of weeks later I received a Chritmas card with a personal message from the man who was arguably our best ever keeper. Legend!

I used to play Football for Hayling United F.C and was fortunate enough to be Managed by a Chelsea and Palace Legend Bobby Tambling. His training methods were just like at Palace and I'm sure he thought we were professionals, great experience though and I'll never forget we were 1 player short one week and Bobby at the young age of 50yrs put his boots on once again and skinned the young left back who was trying his best at marking him. We didn't tell the young lad until after the match who he was up against. Bobby Tambling has a sports shop in Havant,Hampshire now
