Sky Sports panel rate him as one of the best in the division, Paul Merson went on to say "it's a position where Palace don't have to strengthen, as he has been the most consistent in the Premiership" I can't think of a keeper available that is better than him, but many have been saying this for a while now....

I must have missed the criticism of Speroni... Unbelievable he was even questioned. Never again will we have such a loyal and talented player as Speroni long may he stay between the sticks at selhurst park. Viva Speroni. Palace Legend (not in the making, already made) "MANO DE DIOS"
Why, for the love of god why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

How about something like this to hold up in the Holmesdale? Might make Jules happy even if it didn't move Mr Sabella! Attachment: Jules_ArgyNo1.jpg (43.10Kb)

The critcism earlier in the season wasn't fair or objective. The team was playing f***ing rubbish and couldn't even get out their half at times yet some were on here banging on about the goalkeeper constantly. The Swansea game he kept the score respectable and wasn't to blame for either goal. Sorry to interrupt your Speroni Appreciation Society meeting again, but in the Swansea game, the first went through him; the second was after he failed to deal properly with an initial shot (which he should either have held or pushed round the post for a corner). The last time the Opta stats for goalies were shown (about the time Millen was in charge), he was second worst in the division for shots saved. The defence has improved considerably since then so he has less shots to deal with.

Seemed like half of them had never met, and we were all over the place. Swansea got a host of chances which Jules had little chance with - as the previous poster pointed out. If you really want to pin those on him, fine, but you have a rather selective memory in my book. Anyway, what's wrong with getting a little carried away in appreciation of one of our most loyal servants and favourite current players? He's earnt our support over many years. I, like many others it seems, am just chuffed that he's proving capable of performing at the top level too.

He is a club legend and will always be. His performances are of the highest quality so I'm confused where you can even start with all this scrutiny. Are you anti-Argentinian?

Joeberto: I heard Sabella will be at Emirates watching Palace vs. Arsenal. CPJ: Are you perfect? Were you at Wembley back on May 29? Watch him in the Brazil World Cup next to Messi and Kun... It's possible.

I think you can assume that Jools' Argentina chances just received a big boost with Sunderland this afternoon signing one of Argentina's present goalkeepers, Ustari. This pretty much guarantees their management will be tracking the Premiership (and will make Sunderland away a rather interesting encounter for them.) Also ensures Speroni and his competition can be judged evenly.
Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |
