I completely see where you are coming from & I would hate our name to change & I would hope it wouldn't ever be a topic we'd have to have.

What will be interesting to see is how many Hull fans will roll over for the sake of the money. So many red shirts worn by the Cardiff home fans shows many of them have taken the Premiership over history, will the KC be boycotted if this name change becomes real?

It would be interesting if a Bluebirds supporter who wears a red Home shirt could explain why he/she didn't buy the Blue alternative away shirt. I suspect they want to show best non-fragmented visible support for the team in the stands and have been painted into a corner knowing protest would make no difference to the decision of a superstitious egotist.

That chairman is a fracking idiot.

He thinks his money means that he can ride roughshod over the fans wishes.

If I supported HCFC I would be making moves to get him ousted.

I suspect many Hull fans are only looking short term and enjoying being in the Prem so won't stand up to him.

The chairman is just a temporary custodian of a club, it is wrong to call them owners.

Agreed, but they do not see it that way - my business, my money, my toy, my pram.

I don't think, and sincerely hope, the Hull fans are going to lie down over his one . . . .

The Guardian,on the Hull/Palace match, " . . a protest in which some of the many supporters against the club’s mooted change of name to Hull Tigers were initially prevented from parading a banner reading ‘We Are Hull City’ in front of the East Stand… Eventually the stewards relented, taking the heat out the situation, but the chanting continued, and the episode left club owner Assem Allam’s assertion that most supporters do not care about the issue looking ridiculous.”

Maybe they did because red & blue looks so much better than just one or the other?

Just been reading about this in the newspaper. What an arrogant c*** that bloke seems. I hope the CITY fans boycott games until the application is withdrawn.

Will they have the bottle to do so though?

Whilst I disgaree with the name change, the owner is very diiferent from the streotypical "foreign owner"

If memory serves me correct he spent millions on the university, gave Hull KR money for renovating their stadiom, money to the local hospital etc. all before he became involved with the club. He has contributed to the area over many many years.

Most clubs have had at least one name change and/or relocation during their history. Is it such a big deal?

For me, Palace becoming London Eagles or something similar would be awful but are we all guilty of looking backwards all the time?

the dignified don't even enter in the game

Yes, I would object to Crystal Palace Eagles. Although most accept the nickname it was thrust on us by Malcolm Allison; before that we were the Glaziers. No the Palace has not been there for 77 years, but then I'm not sure they still make all that much toffee in Everton. If your happy with "Eagles" it's still just a nickname. Crystal Palace Eagles is a different name and given in imitation of customs in the USA. Now many of them are our cousins and they have many good points, but we should keep our own traditions, being part of our identity. I support Hull all the way in their struggle, but the things they must never do is to use the expression among themselves, to chant it, to write it or to use it in their supporters club.

Well said, John. I think it's asking a bit much to ask fans to boycott matches and frankly it wouldn't work. But their campaign appears to be well organised, committed and taking the targeted opposition to a number of platforms. I think opposition fans could show vocal support for their campaign without betraying their allegiance. A well scripted chant adopted by those fans at all matches could show important solidarity.
