was extremely proud of my rattle (made in woodwork class kennington school for boys circa 1963) took it to whatever game it was and absolutely delighted when i first got to use it on the old arthur terraces, well that is for about 10 seconds, after that first go the old arm needed a rest,it was quite heavy as i remember so only short bursts were possible, well only one short burst really, after that initial burst an older lad next to me said that it sounded like someone hitting a stick on a drainpipe,oh what despair, that rattle never saw the light of day again

ROFL !!!!

Talking of one's wife, my dear lady in front of a mirror said she felt really fat and ugly and asked if I could cheer her up by paying her a compliment.I told her that her eyesight was good !

A much missed art the flying bog roll

Never saw a stand outside the ground selling bog rolls - would have made a fortune !

In those days there used to be lady selling peanuts on the Holmesdale terrace.

Mrs Minchella..... they were monkey nuts - peanuts in their shells!

Remember her well - she had a tin (?) box and because of her thick Euro accent it soundeed like she was selling 'Roasteeeeeed Peeeenis'

6 pence a bag. I think more bags were pinched out of her basket when she put it down than she sold.. Years later ended up working with her nephew at Gatwick...starnge chap. Never brought any monkey nuts into work

Actually I did have to use a scarve as a bog roll once. Blue and white it was before. More Dundee United after.

I used to rummage through the used ticket boxes on the bus platforms for half used ticket rolls, they flew really well and were easier to smuggle in to the holmesdale, left wrist for silk/satin scarf, right hand for launching said missiles/chanting Eagles Eagles!,happy days.

And what happened to rosettes?

And little star shaped plastic badges with a picture of your favourite player in the middle.

And, the newspaper seller shouting out some totally incomprenhensible sales patter - "geyereveninnooseere"

And the Westler's hot dog and burger "trollies".

Looking back they were really disgusting, but I would die for one after the match with onions and red sauce.
