Two girls have been murdered and justice has been done.

But all certain people on here can do on here is make jokes about the appearance of Maxine Carr, and others put smiley faces at the end of their posts. Have a bit of respect.

Having watched the Real Story programme on BBC1 last night it just made me hate that c*** Huntley even more. I am glad they saw through his insanity act and passed him fit for trial. I have actually found this whole thing very depressing, some days I have not been able to read all the stuff in the papers as it just upsets me. Basically Huntley should be left to rot in a cell. Out of respect to the families the media should now move on and end all stories related to this shocking tragedy.

she didn't cover for him over his rape charge - i don't even think she was with him then, but she knew he had been accused (but not found guilty) and he was worried this would stand against him. i am not saying what she did wasn't serious, but being human about it i can see how someone vunerable (she's been anorexic...) and bullied would lie in the heat of the moment for someone they loved and relied on and thought was innocent. i don't for a minute think she thought he had done it. no way.

Guess what, Bexter... I actually agree with you 100%!

I admit I feel she's been bullied and was acting out of blind devotion.
I think we all protect the one's we love and want to believe them.
If your parents or partner said there'd been an accident and they accidentally killed someone I don't think you'd rush off to tell the police.
Once you found out the facts you are then free to make your mind up - which is what she did and was repulsed by him.

From the outside it's easy to judge because what he did was so utterly evil but it is impossible to say how we would act in the same situation.

I must say the Sun was distasteful as ever today with a 'pullout' history of Huntley. Those poor parents should be left to grieve in peace.

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.

I agree with Bexter too.

Lets hope that changes in the law / data protection act ensure that a man with form like Huntley is never again allowed to work with kids.

I'm pleased you're all so sure that Carr was foolishly blinded by love and truly believed Huntley was innocent. Funny though; her knowing all about his sick and vile history having known him since infant school! Her knowing all about the rape allegations! The many underage sex allegations! Her actually giving him an alibi and getting him off the hook of one of those rape allegations! Her actually having been RAPED by Huntley! Her having been beaten many times by Huntley! Her knowing full well what that sick b****** was capable of! Funny that! I suppose she could have been too scared of him to drop him in the s***, but why then did she come running back from the relative safety of Grimsby to give him an alibi? Love? Yeah! Maybe! Quite probably! A sick and twisted perversion of love! A love that is so blind, a love so self-serving, so selfish, it can rise above the hideous knowledge that the object of that love is quite possibly and almost certainly a cold-hearted child molester! A ruthless child Killer! Funny also how once out of Huntley's grasp - in Grimsby the night of the girl's deaths - she was all over any bloke sporting drunk-goggles!

She may not be guilty of the murder of those poor little girls, but she's the one person in Soham who had a bloody good idea of what lurked within Huntley's alien mind, and in my own mind; that makes her as morally guilty as the b****** himself!

HANG THEM BOTH!

The first I've heard of this, but if thats true - surely a reason to provide him with an alibi, i.e. FEAR?

I'm also glad you know more than any of the jurors who heard every detail the Courts deemed relevant to the case.

And I would agree with Bexter, perhaps not truly believing he was innocent so much as loving him to an extent that she would not accept he was guilty?

good job you weren't in the jury eh? hanged or banged up for life for giving an alibi to a loved one, whether it was blind love or fear..... ?!
and pete, women are continually bullied and beaten up but still remain fiercly in love with their men - who are you to judge her feelings toward huntley? or is love always a conventional fluffy little world?

I wasn`t suggesting that her crime equalled his but certainly I believe she could, and should, have got a more severe sentence.

She got off lightly you could say imo.

so you think all that time in custody being bullied by other inmates wasn't punishment? the fact that she will never be able to lead a normal life, the fact that she still has time to serve.... i don't think that's lightly imo...

Not wanting to continue this, but perhaps the Judge took into account that when Carr finishes her sentence, chances are she is not going to be accepted back into society with open arms. She will be punished for the rest of her life, as will Huntley.

Two young girls have been murdered, and the sick individual responsible is behind bars. The woman who tried to protect him, rightly or wrongly, is now behind bars. Though she may have a lenient sentence, she is still going to be 'serving' another for the rest of her life.
