Brigton might be bigger, but they're not in the running for automatic promotion now are they. Suggests to me, they're doing it wrong! Still at least they've still got their great manager... oh wait

The history for the reason of the rivalry is not the 1976 cup match which is always trotted out as standard. It was certainly there at the August 1974 game at the Goldstone. That was the first time the clubs had met for 11 years and Palace had just dropped from the old 2nd Division to the 3rd. Like pretty much all you've said is total nonsense. The Palace - Bighton rivalry has been going on a lot longer than from 1976, I remember the rivalries of the 1953s when they(Brighton) had a keeper called Eric Gill those rivalries were far more intense then than now.

Fan base is a key factor, and fair enough they clearly have bigger crowds. But let's see if they can retain those crowds in 2 years time if they don't get promotion. I very much doubt it, because let's be honest they're playing in an unfamiliar division which is always going to boost attendances. We have been in this league for 9 years, I think we've done well to sustain a hardcore of 15,000. If we got promoted no doubt we'd rake in 26,000 every week. Another factor is history and success. I don't have to expand on who has had the better success and history as we all know. The other key factor being a clubs success to bring through youth players developed by the club. Again we all know who has the better academy and successful products brought through. I think Glenn Murray choosing to come here and Owen Garvan sums it up.

The irony is that poor Brighton have won their cup final and now their manager is likely to leave. The only meltdown we'll be seeing now is at the AMEX! You couldn't write it. Just as they're starting to cream themselves over Sunday their best manager in twenty odd years decides he'd rather be somewhere else! Haha.

I was at the Amex for the Brighton V Palace game on sunday. Palace were pretty dreadful, Zaha showed a lot of promise but looked frustrated with his team mates. He tried to take on the whole team by himself on more than one occasion. Overall it wasn't his day but he did look threatening at times in the match. Not as threatening as Matthew Upsons crazy header which forced PIG to make a quality save. This comparison probably won't go down that well but he reminded me of Obertan's more exciting moments during this match. But Zaha will obviously be a star as he is English and doesn't have a head shaped like a kidney bean. just took that straight off red cafe.... another one of their 28,000 real supporters! posting on his real teams site

Silent all these years. Good win for Brighton definately, but its the first in 26 years! Us palace fans need to get some perspective before they go harranging the owners etc. Sometimes you lose. Heres to another 25 years unbeaten and the memory of being the first league team to win at the Brighton! ^This. Context and perspective is everything. It separates us from the apes ... and people who live in Shorehan

Sadly enough he pretty much hit the nail on the head. We were s*** thats all there is to it. We move on and move forward and win against Birmingham and then up at blackpool. End of story. Spot on...
