As former Palace striker Mikael Forssell probably does not deserve his own topic, news concerning him might fit here. He just signed a two year contract with HJK, who won their fourth consecutive leagie championship and are probably unable to keep their teen sensation, striker Joel Pohjanpalo.

Had a laugh this morning with weekly sports program on Finnish BC where pundits discuss current events in sport. The main subject was success of smaller clubs in smaller towns in Finnish team sports. Aki said that You only need to put on a team scarf and You have an automatic conversation piece in those places. Another pundit said that it does not need to be a ManU scarf but that it could be Millwalls, Crystal Palaces, Wigans or any small clubs scarf. Aki quipped: "Crystal Palace is not a small club". He also told that he is going to see the play offs in London.

What a top bloke he really he is. Absolutely loved Aki, he is the definition of a model pro. If he comes to the play offs I hope the club give him an appearance at half time on the pitch. Gave 100% on the pitch for us, and sadly was the only player I've ever actually cheered when he scored for Finland against England.

Some news on Aki. He got married with his girlfriend during summer.

I don't know if US soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful was ever a big thing in UK but in Finland it sure was and probably still is. One of the main characters is Ridge played by Ron Moss. Finnish betting monopoly VEIKKAUS has now produced their own soap in which Moss acts with Aki (along some other Finnish sport celebrities). The result can be seen in Facebook page of Veikkaus. Bit cheesy.

Nick

Btw, Mikael Forssell scored twice yesterday for his current club HJK and is now a contender for league top-scorer with his 10 goals in spite of not being a first choice striker for the club most of the season. Saw him play in Selhurst Park over 10 years ago and now I´m planning to see EPL there again this season.

Aki was appointed today to CEO role in HJK Helsinki, 26 time Finnish champion (including five last years in a row). He has still played at least few matches in HJK reserves in Finnish third tier and also got married this summer.

Some recent news on Aki.

He became father during summer. He has not given out any info on child and media only found this out through Aki´s brothers (well known sport reporter) twitter account.

He captained a team consisting mostly of ex-National team players in their forties in Finnish Cup reaching 5th round. They were eliminated by a top level team KuPS. All the spectators AND players had to pay to enter stadium and proceedings were given to Icehearts (a hockey team for underprivileged kids who otherwise could not play).

Aki (as a CEO) has lead HJK to the group stage of Europa League which is the first ever for a Finnish team and best for HJK since their Champions league group stage effort 1998 in which Aki was in HJK team.

Yesterday we had in FInland again by far the most popular tv program of the year; three hours of people shaking hands. The independence day collects everybody who´s anybody to presidential castle to celebrate. This year Aki got an invitation and brought along his seldom seen wife.
