Meant to say, I was at Scamps disco in Croydon in about 1975, at Christmas, the Palace boys were in there, I was up at the bar at the same time as Big Dave and my God, his shoulders were so wide - till then I had no idea some footballers were built like brick sh#thouses.

Great to see him at the game yesterday. A shame that we can't turn the clock back and put him up front in the current team!

Agree, seeing him there brought a few memories back.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

I loved Swindle and got totally fed up with those fans that were always on his case.

He was a bit raw to start with and could trip over his own feet or score a blinder.

Eventually he got it spot on and wasn't afraid of a scrap either.

Some fella used to stand behind me on the Holmesdale and shout out "You're a handbag Swindlehurst" all the time. One Saturday afternoon I had enough and offered him out. He bottled it and shut up about Swindlehurst after that.
Swindle scored the best goal in the 4-1 win over Ipswich for me, it was a scissors kick type volley from the edge of the box that flew in the Holmesdale goal.... fantastic goal, fantastic day, fantastic player.

I was gutted when he left.

Dont tell lies Hoof - that was me and you ran down the Holmesdale and hid behind Mr Michellas peanut box...
