The last I heard, he was playing for Crewe. Is that right? He retired the season before last.

At times like this maybe it will help for him (AND US!) to remember some of his career highlights, like when he broke Martin Keown's nose in the Zenith Cup Final at Wembley!! Memorable day!!

Yeah All The Best To Without a Doubt The Best Captain This Club Has Had In My Life Time. Always Worked Hard For The Team and Brought Some Great Memories, lead the team through the 4-3 and an amazing performance in the final. A Rock During The following season when we came 3rd of course and as Cannon said scored one of the goals in the ZDS Final and made Martin Keown uglier! Good Luck Geoff, everyone you have entertained over the years is behind you

I am shocked and gutted. Geoff is one of the finest players to ever pull on a Palace shirt and the finest captain. A real professional and nice bloke. It is no coincidence that England never lost when Geoff was playing but he is sadly remembered for his miss against France which is a mystery to me. If you show as much determination and strength through this terrible time for you Geoff as you did on the pitch I have no doubt that you'll pull through this. All the best to you and your family from all Palace fans.

Genuinely taken aback by this news. One of the GREATEST inspirations to ever pull on a Palace shirt. An absolute General on the field, never bottled, always battled,a real winner. A fine England player who made me extra proud when he ran out for the Country. It`s testament to the man that as recent as the C.P.F.C.managerial post being up for grabs, many of us on here put his name forward in some capacity as a leader we`d like to see involved. Best wishes to you, your family and closest.Get well soon. KAV.

I'd like to add my sentiments endorsing all the comments made so far. A great leader, a tireless worker for whichever club he represented, and a decent bloke to top it all. Geoff, if you fight this with the same gutsiness that was your trademark as a footballer, you'll beat it. The thoughts of ALL Palace fans are with you. Get well soon. Edited by Cannon (23 Jul 2003 11:37am) I'm never gonna forget that, as well as the bullet header he scored to put us 1-0 up. Anyway all I can say is good luck Geoff (The best captin we have ever had!).
This club has had some great moments. Ready for some more? |
