You are fine one to talk about giving some respect when you're on here calling people here idiots and stupid for not agreeing with you! Practice what you preach pecker! The bloke looks toilet - simple! He doesn't look able to control the ball or do anything even remotely useful with it. The reason he got on well at Stoke is because they're a sh*t club who's expectation aren't very high - perfect fit for him really as that about sums him up too! It's not to much to ask in the diviosn when you've spent that much on a player for him to at least show signs of being useful but he hasn't to a lot of us...FACT! He never asked to be transfered for all these millions but he hasn't done badly out of it at the end of the day has he, so why should we feel sorry for him!
Resorted to patronising him for being young yet? ahhh, yes indeed you have! I don't want to see him as first choice striker next season either, but if we can't offload him would you rather: And Tommy does put forward a very good argument, where do you work? I want to yell abuse Edited by alexh_17 (06 Jun 2003 10:14am)

We can only draw parallels between the profession of being a footballer and doing a 'normal' job some of the time! Yelling abuse comes with the territory. People pay to see a product and if it's not good enough then 1) they either don't buy it anymore 2) slag it off. Consumer rights and the customer is always right at the end of the day! Give him a chance?! I would give him a chance in the reserves which he never really had. It was assumed he could go in the first team as soon as he was fit which was wrong as he hadn't proved himself in any way shapee or form. Prove it in the reserves and then if he's not up to it then f*ck him off. Alternatively put him out on loan for 3 months and let him prove it at a Stoke style club. Thing is some people will say that playing him in the reserves won't do his confidence any good either. Let's face it his confidence is shot to pieces at Palace so get rid... But my real point is that the style of football he suits is one most of us don't want to see down at Palace. Therefore he becomes surplus as far as I'm concerned... Lovely bloke though! I think thats about the best solution anyone's had yet. Give him a run in there and see if he can find some form.

I'm sorry, but this is another example of some of the unadulterated toss that gets posted on this message board. Akinbiyi did not ask to come to Palace - we clearly paid an over-the-odds fee and over-the-odds wages for a player low on confidence, at a time when the market was slowing down. But that is not the player's fault, it is the fault of the chairman and the management. Ade hasn't been given a proper chance at this club and it doesn't look like he will be. As soon as Kember got his foot in the door he made it plain that Ade will not be involved next season. Fair enough if he believes the player does not suit his style of football, but he should at least give the lad a run in the first team before he comes to such a definite conclusion. This is something he has never had here, and that is absolutely criminal for a player we paid so much for. To address the point about Stoke - it is not Ade's wage demands that are the stumbling block, it is the fact that he is on a lucrative contract, which Palace want some compensation for. I think Ade would love to go to Stoke, if only to get away from all the booing idiots that support our club, but it is the chairman's demands for a fee that are the problem. It's a good point, Tommy. He's never had a proper run in the first team and been able to demonstrate what he's actually capable of. In the short time he's been at Stoke, he's certainly proved that he can find the net and this, sadly, leads me to conclude that the attitude shown by various people here has done little to improve his already damaged confidence. I find it hard to understand how a striker can fail to 'fit in' with a particular style of play; I'd have thought that being in the right place when the ball arrives in the area is what being a striker is all about, regardless of what style the team plays in. Perhaps it's another example of Mr. Kember's lack of tact when it comes to making public comments about his players, the description of Rubins being a 'waste of space' springing immediately to mind. If he does go, it's more a question of freeing up the wage burden rather than wasting a transfer fee as I believe the fee agreed with Leicester was dependent on appearances and goals, and there hasn't been a whole lot of either. He's been subjected to too much pressure, by both fans and staff at the club and I wouldn't blame him one bit for wanting out. A great shame, because I think he would do it for us if he was given sufficient chance over the longer term.

I'm confused! When we first bought AA he played about 25-30 games and scored 3 goals. Surely this is what you'd call "a run in the side". However, he's had his chance at Palace. And failed. SK is right. AA should go. Can people stop posting without having a clue about the facts? 25-30 games?? Let's clear this one up, here are the facts: In his entire time at Palace Ade has made 11 starts and he has scored 3 goals. No, this does not constitute a run in the side, especially when you consider he's had a very serious injury in the middle. I simply don't understand how anyone can claim Ade has had a "fair crack at the whip" at our club. If you think that we should sell a player we paid 2.5m for, after only 11 starts, then you're more of an idiot that I realised. Even if SK does believe that AA's "style" isn't right for him, it's still appalling management to go round lambasting him in public. How on earth does he plan to offload him now when the whole world knows we don't want him?? Has he really only played 11 games, it feels so much more

Look, apparently we're pretty skinto & we're more than likely not gonna be able to bring anyone else in to partner Dougie up front.Ade must have got some confidence back in his game,i.e that goal he banged in for stoke when he beat a couple of players and smashed it in to the roof of the net. I know the majority of fans are against him,but he has been a decent player in the past who HAS scored goals particuarly in the nationwide, and i honestly do not believe he's had a fair crack. If we could get him back to the bristol city/wolves/gillingham form we 'could' have a desent striker who imo would suit dougies style perfectly. Why dont we just give him the opportunity (a run of games!) to earn his 10g's a week.

When he arrived he didn't expect to disrupt the DF/CM front pairing from day one. Unfortunately TF had other ideas and b*ggered up a prolific front two. Whatever style of football you play you need a man up front who can hold up the ball and bring others into the game, whether he can do this i am unable to say because i have seen so little of him here. Under TF he was mainly used as a target for flick ons in the ridiculous 3 up front formation that basically made DF and CM wingers. TF did not have the guts to drop DF or CM incase it caused a riot. I for one would of been very p1ssed off if he had, but he may of done AA more favours if he had. The injury he had is one which takes a whole year to recover from. I for one never expected him to produce anything like the form I once saw him produce for Bristol or Wolves, during last season. If he is ever going to recover anything like his old form it will be during this coming season. Should he be given the chance is all down to the powers that be, but on a personal note I feel his future may now lie elsewhere. As for AA personally I can only feel very sorry for the man. Football is now so high profile that he wasn't only made a laughing stock at Leicester, (who were an awful team anyway)but nationwide. The day he finally scuffed that goal for Leicester and ripped off his shirt, I can honestly say i have never felt happier for a player that didn't play for Palace or England (except of course Cup giant killers). How that sort of abuse affects someone I can only imagine, but it can't make you feel 10 feet tall that's for sure. As for money. I wouldn't take a pay cut and neither would the majority of other people on here, why should he? Maybe if he's given the chance here, he will take it and make us all look stupid. Then again maybe he won't. Sorry this has been so long, but my conclussion is "I HAVEN'T A CLUE!!!!

On the original point, it really is nonsense to complain that Akinbiyi is being 'greedy' - what what you do if you had a contract that guaranteed you 10k a week? As for whether he should leave Palace, it's fairly clear that Steve Kember wants to play a different style of football, and that Akinbyi won't fit in. He's a big target man, and giving him a run in the team won't magically transform him into a skilful ball player! If Palace are going to be successful then the manager has to pick the best players for the system he has chosen, not the players who cost the most or who have the highest salaries. This is a mistake Palace have made before (Marco Gabbiadini comes immediately to mind). Presumably SJ knew the plans that Steve Kember had for the team before he gave him the job, and he appreciates that something has to be done to offload Akinbyi. SJ is not stupid, so he'll do a deal to cut his losses. So what we have here is the manager trying to ensure that he has the best team and the player and his agent trying to get the best deal in the circumstances, whilst the chairman tries to do the best deal for the club. Everyone seems to be behaving rationally and sensibly!

At the end of the day if you can earn £10k compared to £5k, esp at a club where you've been treated like s***e, you're gonna get all you can out of the club. As if you wouldn't. Also, SK says what you wanna hear about how we are gonna play and suddenly next season we are gonna be playing this great football?!? yeh likely.....next season we will be playing the same sh*t as ever and AA might actually be of some use. Personally I don't think he will, but for all those that want to give him a 'chance' then fair enough. 1 more thing, even if people didn't boo him , he would still know the score, and if he can't take the pressure then he's in the wrong profession.
