Somehow I don't think the 'I'll tell you when I'm back from holiday' line would really wash with Parish.

Its a high profile job, in charge of a decent squad and hundreds of millions are at stake here. Sorry but there is no way Palace are going to put all their eggs in one basket and wait for FdB to make his mind up while he's building sand castles in Yarmouth.
Ok so lets say during that time all our other targets lose interest or find alternative employment and the FdB comes home from his jollies and says thanks for the interest Palace but I've decided no thanks.
Square bloody one. That's what. Parish wouldn't let that happen. Absolute rubbish.

The most annoying thing about last season was that in the first half of the season we didn't get the best out of the players that we have.
Sam turns up and eventually gets a tune out of them with a couple of new signings.
We must not forget that some long term injuries (Souare ,Wickam etc) could be contenders for the starting 11 or at least subs.
The potential new manager will be aware of all the players at his disposal and regardless of what happened last season, will shape them into a team.
So to get to my point, Sam left us at the best time possible, and there is no point in rushing into anything until nearer to the time when the players report back for training.

Could be he is awaiting confirmation that his preferred back room staff will join ?

If we had 4 or 5 new players, which regulars from last season would be left out.
Look at Chelsea last season under Conte, he chose Moses ahead of a glittering array of talent.
Since Chelsea signed him from Wigan he ha been out of favour and loaned out all over. Then a new manager comes in and he was a regular.
So until a new manager comes in and sees who is going to fit into his system it is difficult to know what we need.
