The 2011 Ofcom survey relied upon by WE to support his opinion ( opinions can't be proven as at that point they become fact but let's not be pedantic on poor use of English ) asked less than 1000 people who claimed to have an interest in the news, so it was limited to a narrow questioning based on news coverage only.

A poll in 2022 by a national newspaper asked nearly 7000 of it's readers if the BBC was fit for purpose or should it be defunded.

Over 95% thought the BBC was not fit for purpose and wanted it defunded from the the public purse.

I suspect Ofcom will select their respondents more objectively than any national newspaper with a particular readership.

Try asking Guardian readers whether they believe the present government are doing a good job and you might get a 95% no.

Fewer. Just saying.

Again, try reading what your link actually says and not what you want it to say. Wipe your mind free of preconceptions and try to be objective.

No-one suggests this situation was healthy but that’s not the same thing.

The fact is people at the BBC knew what was happening and took no action which then led to young people being abused for decades. To claim that staff might have known but management didn't is just ridiculous and depends on no one being promoted.
Complaints were made to the BBC at least as early as 1972 and Savile worked there until 1989 nothing was done and the same things happened with other offenders.

Suspect LMFAO, never change

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Almost as charged am I guilty, although, there is a school of thought that less can used for a quantifiable but not the opposite.

A fair call out though

Not if someone says it was not the case, your head must be broken with all that wall banging, I share your pain

Pointless argument about a 12 year old survey. I'm sure I can find one from that same year saying the Tories are doing a good job.

Since 2011 there are far more streaming services and more people accessing them, more young people not watching conventional TV and fewer older ones as they have died off.

One more point

Conversely older people who voted for Brexit and are no longer around are used as an argument to reverse the vote.

The BBC buys 50,000 copies of the Guardian a year, the public buy 100,000.

Says it all really

Not actually the point!

The point is the basis of those being surveyed. If they are from the population as a whole or from any particular group.

I have little doubt that an up to date survey wouldn’t produce an identical result.

It’s not me that says it though is it?

It’s the report that says it. Despite the persistent claims to the contrary.

Those claiming later to have known must have those claims treated with caution. All that is relevant is whether anyone reported suspicions to management at the time, whether employees, parents or the abused. It appears that this didn’t happen in any way to cause any kind of investigation to be undertaken.

That this now seems both incredible and unacceptable is true and the strongest of reasons for the procedures to be improved.

You think Teddy’s head hurts? Imagine mine with the level of obdurate misunderstanding of the actual facts involved.

The persistent repetition of lies often results in people thinking them to be true. Certain tabloids do this all the time and I suspect it’s in play here.
