Don't get me wrong, I really want a striker in - but Benteke is too much ££ unless we get the add-ons agreed - plus he's not set the world alight the last couple of seasons, so not my first choice. I'm hoping that in the background, SP is negotiating elsewhere and Benteke is one of our targets rather than the only one.

No one is expecting "a brand new state of the art stadium"; almost all would settle for an update on where we are with the plans for the main stand. Neither has anyone expressed any wish to sign "the entire Real Madrid playing staff"; again almost all would settle for a half-decent striker and replacements for the players we've sold for very good money. Stipulating a £2.5m payment for qualification to the Champions League is not "an entirely normal add on clause", it's complete insanity. And it really wasn't about the first game, it was about the continuation of the same rubbish we've been served up for the whole of 2016; there isn't a football supporter in the land that wouldn't be concerned about two wins in 22 in the PL. I think I could make more appropriate use of the word 'jerk'.

Liverpool don't need the money, so they aren't really bothered if they sell or not to us or anyone.

This is the whole issue with football now, the super rich clubs can just stockpile players.

Benteke isnt bothered he is still getting paid if he plays or not.

Having a pop at Parish and Pardew, shows a total lack of understanding of the crazy economics of football now.
