I have a horrible feeling he will stay and then spend most of the season in the treatment room.

Please may it not be so. The Geordies will never stop laughing.

He is not the best in the air, but if he went he would leave a hole. Is Lacroix (assuming he is replacement) as quick and strong on the ground?

Who knows, but, Riad is.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Slow CDs can be good too, ask Neil Warnock

Firstly, who gives a s*** what Geordies think.

If you were to sell players on the basis that they might get injured, then you might as well sell the whole squad now, just in case.
I'm sure you will see Guhei move on if Newcastle come in with a much higher offer. Then you will be happy, and we will sign someone else who is not as good.

If Guehi stays, I'm sure he will continue to play well for Palace because he will want to sustain his reputation.

No idea as I haven't followed him. Just browsing their Fan Blog most of the fans think he is the best in their backline and they would prefer if he would sign a longer term contract again. From what I read on their Blog he was already denied a move by Wolfsburg in the past.

Well said, the Geordies are chancing their arm with their deep pockets but want to pay 2021 prices, White was sold to the Gunners for 50m in 2021 and for once SP is right if the they want top talent then they have to pay top prices. In other words pay up or shut up!

We appear to have bought a ready made replacement for him and we have Richards as well.
If we get £60m I would release him.
In Glasner I trust

You assume that he wants to leave.

Players are employees and also assets. The contract you sign is binding. The club will be in the best position to assess the situation as to the attitude of the player and his value. Not you or I.

According to Parish, he is putting no pressure on the club to leave.
Guehi is laughing either way. His future is a bright one. Baring disaster, he will move on sooner or later. He knows that he is a maximum of two seasons away from a free move virtually anywhere he wants. He is 24. I doubt that Newcastle is his ultimate desire.

I'm assuming nothing unlike yourself, stamping your foot and saying he has signed a contract so he must honor it. This indicates YOU assume he wants to leave. I am simply saying it is very naive to think you can force a player to stay just because he has a contract. Realistically it cant be done,

Looks like £65m will get the deal done.

But we don't want to risk our season falling off a 'Cliff'.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Interesting that Man Utd and the others up there haven't even offered?
He is a great footballer but not so great in the air and I wonder whether that is the reason?
As posted earlier £60m would be good enough for me because he obviously wants to move on.
Get it done and then SP can tell Fulham to do one regarding Anderson.

A contract is binding. If a club feels it's in their best interests to sell a player, then that is what they will do. They are under no obligation to do so.
In the rare instance where a player refuses to play or train to force a move, he can be fined or be relegated to the reserves, or even banished from the club's premises altogether. He would then be liable for a claim of compensation for breach of contract. In that situation, the club might either hold him to his contract or sell him to ensure a financial return.

Those are the facts.

In the case of Guehi, there is no indication that he would be a problem were a move not to materialise.
