Imagine wanting to play under Vincent Kompany instead of Oliver Glasner next season. Fair enough, I guess. I'm sure he'll do great, but he'll never command the same loyalty and respect as Zaha in my eyes. unlike Zaha who was Palace through and through (until the last year or two), Olise was never Palace, just here for the money! Fans need to realise that players dont care who they play for, its all about the money

I think Palace is a good place to be around and I think Olise may have thought that another year in a familiar area with a happy dressing room would benefit him. Signing the contract got what he achieved. He can now demand game time to prove himself at Bayern after his excellent contributions last season. Not sure he was as highly regarded when Chelsea last came knocking. "It's all about the money" is simplistic. Zaha went to Galatasaray when he could have stayed with us or gone to Saudi or the UAE on a better salary. Mentally he thought that the lure of Champions League football and silverware was more attractive. I think he regrets this now. Lots of players are like this but many professionals hate not playing. Not everyone's a Winston Bogarde.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |

I think it's best that people ask themselves that if another company offered them a higher wage and a perceived step up in status would they turn it down.....I think a high percent wouldn't. Reading and QPR and Blackburn could make the same arguments over Olise, Eze and Wharton. The club is always going to matter far more to us fans than the players because it's only ever a select few who buy into the club loyalty aspect.....Cannon, Freedman and so on. Both should have probably played more for Scotland but we also probably represented their level as well....just the top end of it. Players are employees of a business that we care about. I don't think we blame the players for moving on just as players shouldn't blame the club for letting them go. It's only a contention when they go out of their way to insult us. Surprised but there must be add on's we don't know , also is our man in change happy to lose him , its a big move so don't pick on him and we don't know the injury's he has had , good luck to him , it could be a great deal or a big mistake , will wait on that . Maybe this is the only major loss , drums are already beating all others are bigger money moves , which will stop clubs COYP

Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Jun 2024 4.15pm) Spot on, players come and go, managers, chairman, owners also, it’s only us fans who are here 30/40/50/60 years. Even players you could consider loyal like Jim Cannon, Julian Speroni and Wilf are only around for a brief time compared to most supporters.

Hope his ham makes it through the medical . I personally think when his contract was negotiated it should have been 70 mill pounds not euros, he is worth at least that . So its back to no wingers for us .

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Stand back and look at this in the cold light of day..!! Olise is 22 - already has a not insignificant history of serious hamstring issues, that’s only going to get worse as he gets older. He played 19 games for us last season - if you believe the threads we offered an improved contract, Chelsea were priced out due to wage demands - apparently wanted to be the highest paid player at Chelsea..!! So clearly Bayern are prepared to meet those wage demands - so the move is all about wages and personal gain..!! Put it this way if say we offered 150K a week and Olise accepted it - how would we feel if he only played 19 games next season due to hamstring problems. I look at this way - we don’t want another Zaha situation - we are no longer a one player team, yes Olise is good but irreplaceable - no - in fact looks like we’ve already identified his replacement in Antonio Nusa - looks very good available at 25M and 3 years younger..!! It was obvious when we took the 150M loan for transfers - that was based upon that there would be incoming transfer revenue..!! Quality in depth was our problem last season - with the money from the Ollse deal - get Nusa in, another left back and attacking midfielder/striker in - add that to Riad and Kamada and everything else we have - we have far more quality in depth..!! Remember Doucoure missed most of last season and we still are yet to see the best/how good Franca is - both will be like new signings next season..!! In summary if Olise wants to go and chase personal gain in a substandard league good luck to him - meantime we will be fine and if anything stronger..!! COYP

Makes complete sense for Olise. Big move to a huge club, more money and champions league football. The final move is Real Madrid/Barcelona if he can stay fit because there’s no doubt he’s going to find the quality of the league a step down, therefore making it easier for him. This league made Sancho look elite, imagine what Olise can do over there.
