It’s not the owners of the bank having any personal objections to someone’s politics. They might be great admirers. It’s a hard headed professional appraisal. This isn’t like those cake bakers refusing service because of personal views. This is like those cake bakers having only evangelical Christians who object to gay marriage as clients, who decide that to offer service to a gay married couple would hurt their reputation. You have controversial political opinions. It would be inappropriate for a board moderator to ban you from sharing your views....or stop you from using a bank.

What kind of society will we have if we just cancel the bank accounts of people we don't like. Get a grip.

Having followed these political debates. I can see that Wisbech is an intelligent man. However I know that if you say black he will say white. Not quite sure what's going on. Are you part of the 77th brigade Wisbech? Lol. Edited by Mattconrov (28 Jul 2023 12.17pm)

They might be different to those of a caucus here who themselves hold views regarded as controversial by the wider population, but they aren't elsewhere. They are what at least one poster derogatorily describes as those of a "normie"! What the site and its moderators do is up to them. It's their ball. Their game. So far they have obviously decided their reputation isn't being damaged by my, or your, presence here. Other opinions may exist.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

It's what you think they are doing, encouraged by Farage's, and the right-wing press's, propaganda. They are closing accounts for commercial reasons. They are commercial businesses, not public utilities.

Maybe we could do a vote on the HOL. "Are wisbechs views controversial?" Im sure it will be an overwhelming yes. Even at that I would not want you to be banned or have your assets seized, or bank accounts closed. As you have a right to have your views even tho they are controversial and not what the wider population think. Anyways I have really enjoyed your meltdown over Farage so please continue.

Regrettably, such opinions are quite rare in this place, populated as it is by those with a very particular viewpoint who have successfully driven away most contrary views. I hadn't heard of the 77th brigade so thanks for the heads-up. Very interesting and necessary. I would have loved to have been a member but sadly am now far too old. I will have to content myself in providing voluntary service on the web.

But I feel compelled to sometimes contribute. Unfortunately both yourself and others become far too emotional when debating. It doesn't need to be personal. I might just add that if people were a little less emotional, your views would be dismantled quite simply. I look forward to chatting with you more. Edited by Mattconrov (28 Jul 2023 12.48pm)

We all know that you can see the bigger picture, so why not just be a man for a change and admit that this lunacy does not serve the greater good, rather than hide behind mealy mouthed excuses.

With regards to Wisbech comments on the banks commercial decision on cancelling Nigel. Firstly "the controversial views" he holds. I would also add that nat west is 45 percent owned by the government for which coutts are part of. I think that's relevant. Having a bank account is not really a choice. What seems to have happened in society is a bait and switch. Get people reliant on Certain things and then take them away for being a non compliant person. You tube did the same thing. Yes there are other platforms. But once banned from you tube you are less relevant. Edited by Mattconrov (28 Jul 2023 1.15pm)
