At 27m do we want CG? I know prices are crazy right now, I’ve even read some articles suggesting Chelsea value him at 50m. Personally the signings I like are the two centre backs we signed last year, both for roughly 17-20m each. Both now proven prem quality players. I wouldn’t swap both of them for CG…if given that option. Look at the 9m spent on Olise and 16m spent on Eze. I wouldn’t trade both of them either. What I’m saying is, I’d rather we went out and signed two CMs for a combined 27m and trust that our recruitment team will come good for us again. When we signed Benteke and Sakho for ridiculous fees, we barely had a penny to spend for years to come. If they work out, great, but if they don’t, it’s a big problem. He won’t be sold for £27 m that’s for sure. The likes of Newcastle etc will be willing to pay £40m or maybe more. We won’t get a look in during such a bidding war.

They may not be too keen to sell to Newcastle even if offered more money. Firstly because likely to be rivals to them soon and secondly cos it will be harder to agree a buy back clause that they like to include in most of their sales.

May be slightly left of field but I think Everton might still be our main rivals, if he does go somewhere today. Newcastle are pretty well covered in midfield so CG wouldn't necessarily get the guaranteed starting place he craves. Villa also have two similar players already in Buendia and Coutinho. West Ham have spent an absolute fortune so probably more of a loan rather a permanent move. Chelsea may just want the cash. Everton on the other hand - not inconceivable he could form part of a swap deal with Gordon.

Chelsea won't have any midfielders available if they let Gallagher go. This is not happening unless by some miracle Chelsea sign a midfielder or two, which doesn't seem on the cards.

Gallagher can either stagnate at Chelsea or shine at Palace. Southgate will also likely call him up to World Cup squad if he’s playing well for Palace which will further launch his career. He really needs good advice for his agent and brothers at this critical time.

Just buy him and let chelsea have a buy back clause which would suit all parties!

Everto have just bought Onana and Gueye to go alongside Allan, Docoure, Davies and Iwobi (who has been playing there recently).

The Nazi Toilet Paper (Mail) is now saying Villa have approached Chelsea about Gallagher. I understand if Chelsea keep him, but I would be gutted if he went to another PL club.

I heard one theory that I thought sounded plausible.

Patrick I like that scenario. It seems to work well for all parties. Chelsea obviously want him in World Cup squad and may see that more likely with more guaranteed Palace game time.

I hope that by putting all our transfer eggs in one basket we dont p*ss PV off. It is beginnibg to look likely we will sign nobody even though Pat has said we are short of at least two players.
