BTW can we have compensation from Mr Multiclub Textor for stealing Big Jake O’Brien who has starred for Lyon this season including a cup final goal. How on earth could we have sold one of the few final product success stories of the academy and Irish speculative buys for £1million. And why do we now need to spend £12 million for a similar kind of player to replace Guehi? So who benfits from multiclub directors?

Firstly O'Brien was hardly a product of our academy and secondly if there is any blame to be apportioned for selling him then it should be Parish that is blamed as it was he that sold him and not Textor

The critique of multiclub model is the potential to asset strip as in the OBrien case if multiclub owners have the opportunity to influence decisions in favour of their other clubs. Lyon now have the gain in value that should have accrued to Palace after the two years in U21 squad and out on loan.

They don't like him. How exactly are we supposed to be different? The O'Brien deal wasn't good for us. Perhaps you think there was nothing else involved other than a straight off transfer.

Yeah but it's straight out of the Textor playbook isn't it? Have a look at this, these are the transfers in and out for RWD Molenbeek (RWDM), Botafogo and Lyon, there's free transfers and loans all over the place between the clubs, in fact Palace has the lowest number with just Adaramola, Ebiowei and O'Brien ending up getting caught up in it all. I agree that Parish should have done more to stop this and who knows why it was allowed, but this is the kind of thing I've always been worried about with this multi club ownership and the potential for asset stripping talent (especially from the academy) to whatever club is the favourite at the moment. Perhaps that was the plan for Textor? Use our world class academy talent to prop up his other clubs?
The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots |

I dont think he even gave him the chance to warm the bench.

The multi club model only works where the owners hold majority shareholdings. I have no sympathy with Textor - he is in the position he put himself in. He probably took whatever deal he could so he could boast about his piece of a premier league club. It will have helped him raise investment for his other purchases. But its backfired in that he hasn't been allowed to do whatever he wants with Palace when its suits him. I think we will be better off without him. He doesn't have money, its all smoke and mirrors sadly and no, Glasner is not his man. Oli turned him down at OL. Parish isn't perfect but in this day and age its good to have someone in a position of influence who actually has some feeling for the club.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Textor claims he picked Ollie we will probably never know the truth. Perhaps he did, perhaps he was just one of many that Textor suggested and were mostly rubbish. The Sun always claims to have picked the National Winner after about 20 of their pundits had their say.

Textor quite probably did suggest Glasner - given that he needed new managers at all his clubs last year I would expect him to have done his homework particularly on available managers. I think though that if Glasner was tied to Textor in any way he would be managing OL now not us.

I have mentioned before that I met John Textor when he first came to Palace - albeit briefly. But he did impress me with his knowledge of football and his high level of interest in the game. That was well before the multi club ownership came into play. The Molenbeek fans that I spoke to earlier in the year didn't have a good word to say about him. And the underlying reason was his multi club ownership. It seems that everyone is feeling that the other clubs in his portfolio are gaining at the expense of the one they support. It would appear that Parish, Harris and Blitzer are not in tandem with Textor but until we know who will buy Textor's majority holding I will reserve judgement on whether it's a good or bad thing. In terms of O'Brien, I was disappointed that he left Palace. But at the time he was behind Andersen and Guehi as a starter and Roy's inherent distrust of youth meant he was unlikely to get many opportunities. The actual fee may now seem low given his progress, but for a young player with limited experience I don't think it was outrageously so. And Palace do have a sell-on clause.

I have nothing to base this on other than a gut feeling but I think there may have been more behind the Jake O'Brien transfer than we were told. Maybe a favour returned but like I said I don't know. When Textor joined I was really pleased. He made all the right noises. The reality has been a bit of a disappointment in my opinion. Harris & Blitzer have spent a lot of time sniffing around other clubs (Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd that I have heard about but could be more). Is it too much to hope they are now looking at Palace with fresh eyes and seeing that if we are backed a bit we could be a force next season?
