I think the point is that politicians need to come up with practical solutions that the public can live with. Because they don't I and others will call them out for their hypocrisy. They want us to wear a hair shirt and yet they are not prepared to do the same. Why the hell is Khan in NY anyway. Since he became Mayor he has traveled thousands of miles with his entourage all under the pretense he is representing London. The SNP leader is just copying his predecessor who would jump at any chance for a seat at the big table and her mug on the TV. Apparently these 2 have never heard of Zoom.

This raises a good question, the opposite of virtue signalling might be vice signalling but that doesn't fit the context. A phrase is needed that encompasses a lack of desire to flaunt one's self centred sense of goodness that other lesser people don't have
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

A little common sense. Whether he has the balls to do it is up for debate.

There is no viable alternative for the majority of us. I live in a block of flats heat pumps will not work are noisy and inefficient. When they come up with a sensible alternative heating that's when they should start looking at phasing gas boilers out. You could go electric problem is that we don't generate enough electricity and this requirement is only going to go up as we switch to electric cars. 2. Electric cars. Too expensive for many, not practical for White Van Man or people who don't have off road parking. The government needs to focus on generating more electrical power and infrastructure. I plead guilty to being negative about climate change policy largely because it is naive "if only we could all get on the world would be so much better", however this is a good news story. British scientists using satellite technology identified a major Methane gas leak which BG / Transco has now fixed. This is the type of practical solutions I favour. We should be using this technology across the world to identify the major Methane gas polluters and put pressure on those countries. Of course countries like Saudi Arabia and Russia will probably know and not care but it's a starting point, a map of problems. Some of those leaks will be accidental and unknown and can be stopped. Exactly we're all in this together, only they can afford to fly around the world at taxpayers expense whilst Joe Public takes a hit on their car, fuel bills and holidays abroad. Personally I would provide MPs with a bicycle and tell them to lead by example. Edited by Badger11 (20 Sep 2023 10.49am)
