A fair assessment Willo. I too thought Anderson was culpable. His body language certainly seemed to suggest it.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

(Why do people on here insist on trying to deflate the confidence of our players?) The replays are there for all to see. PV (rightly) wants the back four and goalie to be able to pass out of trouble and develop play. Very simply, Butland mad an error: both Ward and Andersen were in plenty of space to receive his pass. Butland didn't pull his hair out and bang his fists into the turf because 'Andersen' did something wrong. His foot scewed into the turf and stuffed up his pass is all that happened: possibly Millwall's turf too as it took a while for Palace to get going. Just a mistake is all. FFS leave Andersen out of it.

From the goal keepers position , having all of the play unfolding in front of him he is in the best position to take charge of that situation / that passage of play, he needs to either yell at the player with the ball that he dosent want it, and tell the ball player what to do with it, i.e upfield, out for a throw or , or..... if the ball is played back to him anyway ( despite the call) he is the only one that can decide what to do with it, if he is under pressure that includes lumping it upfield - He must have decided he had time to play it & came unstuck or got caught in 2 minds & came unstuck - At that point he is the only one that can save himself -if a defender gets in between & saves it or the attacker misses, well that's really a bit of divine intervention.

Absolutely correct , Butland even got the first bit right by making a little move to get one of the strikers to move to cover the pass out to Mitchell which gave Butland a simple straight ball to Anderson that he didn’t do for whatever reason, Anderson did exactly the right thing in holding his position in plenty of space to receive the ball.

Re the game a palace supporter has been arrested in relation to a flare thrown on the pitch, if guilty I hope he is banned for life, the last thing we need is Millwall type idiots in the fan base, we are MUCH better than them

If a keeper fcuks up like that there is no excuse. If the back pass is poor and no one is moving for him he should just smash it upfield. Same with a defender putting it into row Z. We all want to play nice football but their number one job is to stop goals. There is a time and place for everything. It's as simple as that.
