The article made me smile. It only accounts for 10% of UK exports, but isn’t that the whole reason why we want to join. To increase that percentage?

The good news is that we already have free trade deals with the majority of these countries so hopefully our application will be accepted. As for the only 10% well that means plenty of opportunity to grow the business then.

Indeed but of course it is a BBC article LOL. You can tell that whoever wrote it, did so through the most gritted of teeth that must have left a dusting of powdered enamel all over the keyboard. They have to be defunded. Not even a debate around it anymore.

Yes, I get that geography factors in (to why so much of our trade is with the EU), but this is a good example of us spreading our wings and forging a path that wouldn't have otherwise been possible.

Some interesting chatter out there about Macron. Apparently looking over his shoulder at the moment at Le Pen and next years elections. Some claims that a successful Brexit means he could lose. There was a recent poll that put them, in a head to head, at 52-48 (now where have I read that before?) but with Perfidious Albion showing that there is a future outside of the EU, then the numbers start to swing in Le Pen's favour. And if she wins...all bets are off. Would make Brexit seem like a storm in a Cafe au lait cup. Throw in Italy with Salvini back in the hot seat and the EU is f***ED.

Yup I hope our government sidelines the EU and talks directly to individual countries. You never know maybe we could form a loose trading block with non EU European countries like Switzerland and Norway etc..

Just thinking back on the events over the past few days... ...Isn't it absolutely incredible that the trading bloc you are a member of has the power to raise the border of your country, and without even telling you? Without a vote, without safeguards, without notification. Shouldn't that kind of unchecked power terrify people? If the EU Commssion wanted to, and were even more tone-deaf than they currently are, they could do exactly the same again today. How would you get rid of them, in that circumstance? A 2/3 majority censure vote in the "EU Parliament" that requires a fanatically pro-EU chamber to unseat the executive. Good luck with that. This is why I think the EU has to be dismantled - the more it flexes it's muscles, the more power it consolidates, the harder it will be to take it back from them. Imagine now that their dreams of an EU army bear fruit. How would enforcement of Article 16 play out? Sure, the Irish would never occupy the border under an EU flag. But I'll bet the house I don't own (or one of our pro-EU poster's many) that the French would be there in a flash. Anything to stick it to the UK.
