I find it very hard to believe Leeds, Newcastle and Palace were all chasing a bad player…and that Chelsea wanted to take a look at him in pre season before deciding whether to keep him for the season and it’s been mentioned Tuchel was impressed by him but the player wants first team football.

I just don’t buy the notion he’s a bad player at all. He’s 6ft, has a good engine and has quality on the ball. He’s a potential upgrade on every single player we currently have in central midfield.

He hasn’t been the first one in, but I would not be surprised if he wasn’t the first one on Dougie ,s list. We all know a loan isn’t ideal in every respect , but the money has to go round,. If you look for young players progressing well above average this kid is it.. let’s hope he can keep it up. And most of all stays fit.

Sorry if this is an unpopular theory but I really dont subscribe to this theory that a team that was relegated dosent have any player worth buying (solely on the fact that they got relegated) Every team that gets into the Prem does so on the back of having some quality in their ranks, the ones that get relegated do so because either they didnt use what quality they had wisely (or through suspension or injuries) or they didnt have enough quality in their 25 man squad to sustain their place -

In my opinion - FWIW - Individual performers should be judged on their own merits.

Exactly. We got relegated in 2005 with Andy Johnson being the country's top scorer and easily Premier League class.

Didn’t stop us signing McArthur from Wigan either did it.

Exactly

Weren't Wijnaldum, Robertson, Maguire,
Godfrey, Wilson and I'm sure countless others purchased from relegated teams.

To ignore relegated players would be ludicrous. If you cherry pick the right ones I think it's a very smart move.

You would probably avoid relegated goalkeepers.

But lo! Or own Jack Butland no less.

If we do get CG on loan does that mean we can't get anymore loanees since we have JPM? Or can we still get another domestic one? I always get confused about the loan rule in the PL.

Case by case really. But last years cohort are all in demand. Johnstone of West Brom, Ramsdale of Sheff and Areola has already gone to west ham. I do think the money being mentioned for Ramsdale seems far too high though. Arsenal would be mad to pay anything more than what Sheff United paid for him imo

You can have two loans from domestic teams plus others from international clubs

Sheff Utd sold Ramsdale to Bournemouth for £1 Mill + 15% sell-on clause and brought him back to the club for £18.5 Mill.
Earlier in the year I heard talk of him having a tendency to concede goals from long range.
When De Gea first went to Man Utd he conceded a few goals from distance.

Didnt Fabianski go to Wet Spam from Swansea when they were relegated.
