To answer the original question it is the fault of whoever is in charge of recruitment. The last 2 windows have been abysmal. I firmly believe Hodgson is doing the best with what he has to work with

Make of that what you will.

Hodgson sack race odds have actually gone out now from 3/1 to 4 or 5.

I understand the criticisms about recruitment but perhaps we should consider the backdrop which of course is the financial constraint we have been operating under. In January 2017, season 2017-18, our expenditure was about £11.6 Mill (Excluding the Sorloth add-ons) and in the last window in the summer our expenditure was around £10 Mill so both figures are relevant 'Peanuts' in PL terms. That said, our transfer activity hasn't bore fruit as yet and perhaps unlikely to do so.Must do better in January !

The problem as I see it is that we really lack quality beyond the starting eleven. And for that reason we have players playing out of position and a manager reluctant to make changes to either the starting line up or during matches.

Look at the bench yesterday and then make a convincing case for starting any of those players - I'm struggling to. Are they ' game changers ' ? - Roy doesn't think so and I agree with him.

In a results business I think Roy is staring down the end of a barrel now. 12 months on and we are back to where we were a year ago only instead of results improving they are getting worse. But then who do you replace him with ? We're running out of the short term fix appointment candidates.

My perception of the way that the club is run is that there is no cohesive strategy or planning for the medium term on the playing side. Instead it's an annual fire fighting exercise. Parish seems to have too much direct influence and input rather than hire people that have proven experience in the running of football clubs.

I was told yesterday that Simon Jordan has hinted that Palace are unofficially up for sale ( £220m asking price ) - not seen that myself, but could that be a factor in where we currently find ourselves ?

Well the one saving grace is that is about £220m out of his price range.

Hodgson to me just looks tired. I think the England situation damaged him. Last season he was on a hiding to nothing as we were gone. There was no expectation so it was a free shot. Much like when he took over with England.

When the expectation kicks in that’s where it becomes an issue.

He never fancied Zaha for England and Roy’s approach is safety first. Unfortunately sides are figuring him out. Our wingbacks are attacking and neither mark up particularly close. PVA in particular. They then have MacArthur and Meyer in front of them - not Wilf and Andros so are caught.

Even Sam preferred Schlupp to PVA to start and in a side that needs to be defensively sound PVA wouldn’t be my first name on the sheet. Schlupp is a woeful footballer, but he doesn’t spend the game thinking he is a right winger when playing left back.

It’s all a bit Mike Bassett. The flair players are being asked to do a job that isn’t there normal one - negating them. Meyer and MacArthur aren’t wingers. But they are being asked to do the same - now you have four players out. Luka doesn’t have Cabaye anymore and doesn’t have Meyer either as he is out of position.

There is no point having two defensive midfielders if your fullbacks are being found out and things are coming from crosses.

Agree Roy looks very tired, fed up and is finding it,amongst a run of very poor results,so very difficult to motivate and inspire the squad.

To save our season,do we need the benefit of a new manager bounce???

They have caught the mouse at the training ground canteen. It was Speedy Gonzales and Parish has offered him a trial.

Update: Speedy has now got an agent and wants a 4yr deal at £90k a week

The only way that would happen is with relegation. Back to the wilderness.
